I have to say I was quite sceptical about how good this would actually be, and was apprehensive about spending almost £20. But having used it a couple of times now I wish I had bought one sooner! The quality is very good, and the job it does levelling and tamping the grounds is far superior and more ergonomically friendly than the tamp that came with my Bambino Plus. Fits the portafilter basket perfectly. The end result (espresso) is much better than what I was getting before.

Firstly, I will say that following the purchase of both the distributor and bottomless portafilter for my Sage Bambino, my espresso has improved massively. The tamper supplied with the Sage is awful - too light and also not a perfect fit for the basket.The distributor ensures an even, flat coffee bed before tamping, while the heavy tamper on the other side ensures grounds are tamped evenly with the appropriate pressure. All in all the product is great. HOWEVER, when using lower doses (e.g 16/17 grams) you have to adjust both the tamper and distributor side so that they are deep enough in the basket to make contact with the grounds and to compress/tamp the grounds enough for proper extraction. This can be a little bit of a nuisance having to adjust the distributor, then turning it over and doing the same with the tamper every time you make a coffee. I believe this wouldn't be an issue at higher doses (because there is more coffee in the basket and as a result both sides of the tool can be left at their deepest setting), but it is an issue if you are using lower doses.

New to the 'proper' coffee machines after using Nespresso machines for a decade. The machine we use was supplied with a tamper and I thought it was good enough, though I did notice that the coffee when tamped was on the wonk, which apparently isn't ideal. Who knew?Saw something like this talked about on YouTube and this came up on Amazon when I was looking for coffee accessories. I though it was a little pricey for what it was but decided to give it a go. Wow! Got it dialled in at the right height easy enough and after using it for the first time we've not gone back to our original tamper.I was surprised at how heavy it is and the quality of the finish. Both ends are polished and very smooth. It's more than I expected for the price.With hindsight, I think I would've gotten the one where you can adjust the height of both ends and I might get that in the future as I'd like it to tamp a little more when it's flattening it out. But the tamping end works fine and does the job. Really very happy with it and recommend it.

Works great on the stock Sage Barista Express portafilter. Have no issues with the product. Very heavy which i assum is a good thing. Doesn't feel cheap but a normal ok product. Got for £15 on December 2021

No instructions on how to set it up, or use it.After tweaking & testing, I do use it on every cup ..... the tamping portion does mean I have a consistent amount of pressure.I am unsure whether the Distribution end has any effect other than spilling coffee out of the basket.No doubt it is a quality made item .... and heavy,

Nothing to dislike

Once calibrated to your requirements you get the perfect tamp. My other half has no trouble with ramping now and gets the correct pressure each time. Well worth it.
