Works great. Easy to install.
I was looking for a solution that is easier than using bungee cords to keep my lid shut, so the wind will not take it and blow everything everywhere. I found this company and this product and it could not be easier. Follow their instructions and draw the appropriate size hole in the piece. Just snapped right in and hold securely where I am. We are prone to a lot of wind and lids. The lids get knocked open all the time and trash blows around. This holds it quite well, and you don’t have to detach the latch on garbage day. It opens up on its own with the 2 to 3 pounds of pressure when the bin is upside down. And to the person who gave this a one star because this little piece of rubbery type plastic didn’t keep bears from opening your lids. Really???

Template and item is useless!
The template along with the item is useless, the instructions may not apply to your specific garbage can. There needs to be a very clear and detailed video for this, the video that I saw online did not mention or show how the bottom part of the latch should latch on, and how different garbage cans can vary in that specific area. The bottom part that latches doesn’t latch properly if the bottom latching part of your garbage can doesn’t have a thin surface.I had to make multiple holes to try to get this to work. Now my garbage can looks horrible with the holes.I bought this to avoid having to buy new garbage cans due to the “NEW”. New York City law that requires your garbage can to have a latch or your required to buy there garbage cans.Since I ruined my existing garbage cans trying to install these now I have no choice but to buy 2 new garbage cans from NYC.

It’s worth it
This product is exceptional. I am certainly pleased with my purchase. It requires only a small amount of pressure to release, allowing the driver to open the lid without exiting the vehicle. It is unquestionably a worthwhile investment.

Holds lid unless moderate winds or bin falls over
Keeps lid on if mildly windy. Does not hold lid on if there are gusts or of the bin is blown over. Expensive for a piece of rubber.

Bought 2 of these, 1 worked 1 didn't
I bought 2 of these, one for a regular trash can one for a recycling trash can. We live on a street where the wind comes whipping up the street and with the trash cans facing the street as the trash company requires, the wind opens the lids and my trash goes blowing around the neighborhood. The one of these I put on my recycling works perfectly. It holds against the wind and my recycling doesn't blow all around. when the trash comes, even the weight of light recycling is plenty to open the lid when the truck picks it up and flips it over. The normal trash has less of a lip for this to grab onto, so it doesn't work quite as well. It still provides some resistance, just not as much. Luckily, my recycling was the bigger problem, so this fixed it for that. They are super easy to install. I put mine on the side instead of the front and they still work well.

it works
This actually works really well. It won’t be effective if your trash can is overloaded, but when it’s not, it functions great—and the garbage collectors can empty the can without even needing to remove the strap.

Works great!
We have a auto loading truck that collects our trash and recycling. I was a little hesitant when I installed these (which was super easy) but I watched out the window as the truck grabbed the totes and dumped them. 2 weeks in a row and both released as promised. Meanwhile the wind did not blow the totes open and scatter recyclables all over the neighborhood. Mission accomplished. Highly recommended. A little prices for a strip of rubber but worth it.
