I chose purple and it was not shiny. It is made of a soft velveteen fabric which can be quite light reflecting tough - but I would say bright rather than shiny

No, it isn't thick, but it is very comfortable. I wear a cami under mine. I think I will get more wear out of it because it isn't thick. I can wear it for more seasons. Hope this helps. Note, the red one does run so easy it alone at first.
