Great filter for well.
Lasted longer than expected and with the iron in our well, did a good job.

It just plain works!
I use a sediment filter (DGD-2501) in combination with this Iron Filter (RFFE10-BB) and carbon block filter (EP-BB) in my house water system. Best thing I've done. These just plain work. Change the filters on a yearly basis since it is just two of us in the household...no more brown (iron) deposits/stains !!

Whole house water filtration system.
I just finished installing a complete whole house water filtration system. I used only pentek filters and housings. I'm very happy with the performance of my system and how well it all went together. Here's a breakdown of the all the components I used in my system. I went to great length researching what works and found it wasn't easy going thru each pentek filter and it's function. The goal was to reduce some sediment, iron deposits from old iron pipes and remove any chemical taste. The water tastes great now and is crystal clear.Components:-Pentek Big Blue 20" Filter Housings-Housing Bracket for Big blue 10" and 20" filterFilters IN ORDER:1-Pentek DGD-2501-20 Spun Polypropylene Filter 20 micron dual stage to 1 micron.2-Pentek 155263, RFFE20-BB Radial Flow Iron Removing Filter3-Pentek RFCC-BB Carbon Filteryou can add another Filter after the Carbon for media if you want. Not necessary but is an option or run 2 sediment filters in beginning of the system.-Various copper pipes and PVC pipes to build the system. I highly recommend a bypass valve and a way to shut off the water to your filters if you need to change them without losing water pressure to the house.-I experienced nearly 0 PSI drop thru the 3 filters and no noticeable change in flow rate.

The PERFECT filter for my crappy water!
This filter has changed my life! We live in an area with crappy high iron water. I sometimes have difficulty washing whites because our water leaves iron stains on them. I had a different filter in, suggested by my "water guy," but it just didn't seem to do the job. I installed this Pentek 155263, RFFE20-BB Radial Flow Iron Reduction Cartridge and within MINUTES my water was clearer and cleaner! I can wash whites without spots, and the handmade soaps we use not longer leave sticky soap scum on the tubs and sinks. I have FINALLY gotten rid of the yellow stains left on the fiberglass tub. When I fill up the tub the water no longer has a yellow tinge. It's a bit expensive, but then so are clothes. This filter is the absolute best for my high iron well water!

Good Filter, only 6 GPM though not 10 as earlier review states
It should be noted that reviews about this being a 10 GPM filter must refer to some earlier spec of this filter; mine arrived in Pentek packaging (so it appears to be the real deal), but it plainy states "6 gpm" on the label. I placed it in service anyway and over the past week it appears to have dropped the dissolved iron levels in our water considerably. No formal test beyond observation of previous hot spots of iron buildup (still clean !); 6gpm is lower than the 10gpm minimum I was hoping for after seeing the other review, but the drop from 8gpm (my previous rate-restricted by a water softener) to 6 has been minimally noticeable with regular use. I just haven't had it long enough to see if it justifies a glowing review.

Skip the "Off Brands'
My iron is all undissolved iron at 3ppm or more. By adding just a 1 micron sediment filter it drops to around 0.5ppm (1 ppm at most).I initially had a similar iSpring 20x4.5" Iron filter (similar price too). It lasted maybe 3 weeks 1000 gallons with at most being hit with 1 ppm of iron. I had both 1 micro filter and a carbon filter before it. It doesn't reduce iron at all after 3 weeks.I decided to give it one more shot and try Pentair Iron filter. I probably would have bought the Pentair first had I known it existed. I have had good experience with Pentair. I use Pentair components on my pool.Any way I have again a 1 Micron Filter before this Pentair (also 20x4.5"). But after some research watching videos I put the carbon filter after this iron filter. Some documents say this filter oxidizes the iron and then a post filter needs to pick it up. I'm not sure about that and if that applies to undissolved iron. Any way my Carbon filter is a 0.5 Micron and also made by Pentair. It cost almost as much as the iron filter. The water is perfect now. Pentair claims 80,000 gallons at 1ppm. Should last 2 years. We'll see but it's looking much better than the iSpring filters I installed first. I've been running for 6 weeks and 2000 gallons.I also top off the kitchen sink drinking spigot with a WaterDrop filter that does 0.01 Micron. This is also a GREAT filter and not expensive and should last 2 years (19,000 gallons). Even when the iSpring was falling to get the iron out the water out of the Waterdrop was still perfect.

I lowered the overall rating because of the extreme price change
I buy these about every six months and they do help to mitigate iron; I use it in front of my brine/resin filter. I was about to order another and saw the price has jumped to $100.66 from $76.03 back in December 2017, a 33% increase! I don't understand Amazon's pricing policies...prices change sometimes right before your eyes. It would be helpful to have two ways to rate purchases, by the product and how it performs along with how Amazon handles sales, returns, pricing etc. This filter is a five-star item but I lowered the overall rating because of the extreme price change. It forced me to look around and I found the same product at witerfilters dot net for about the same as I was paying in December. If you look around you'll find a coupon code that will reduce the price even more, as will a subscription. Again, the filter is fine, but Amazon???
