Helping me to Become Rooted
Dr. Randy has been a vital mentor for me in my journey of reclaiming the Native culture that was stolen from me and my family over generations while living on Turtle Island. He has also helped me balance what it is like to be of both European and Native descent — especially when callous settler colonizers have wanted to ridicule me because I am also white and have white privilege. It was very affirming to me to hear on Dr. Randy’s podcast that my “ancestors are calling me back.” Since then, I have been listening, and letting them, Dr. Randy, and numerous Indigenous scholars and elders guide me to Becoming Rooted within myself, my family, my peoples, and Mother Earth. I have only just begun this book, but it has already moved me profoundly. I know that Becoming Rooted will be another vital guide to me as I learn to walk in the way of my ancestors and to live in harmony with Mother Earth, Unelanvhi (Creator), and all my relatives. I am just a baby on this journey, but that’s okay...because as Dr. Randy says, “it takes a long time to become Indigenous.”

Trying to reconnect with real life? Start here!
First off, the Kindle version is great. I can see wanting a printed version if you like writing in books. This is a book worth reflecting on.It is easy and accessible for even a person who claims no connection to nature. As a person who already believes and lives by the ideas in this book, I still found it to be a lovely daily refreshment. Each chapter gives you a contemplative look at how an indigenous worldview would look at common daily human issues. At the end of the chapter, you get an assignment for the day.I highly recommend!

Indigenous Wisdom For Us All
Dr. Woodley provides a beautiful introduction to a life informed by the wisdom and practice of indigenous peoples. As Woodley reminds us, we all come from people that are indigenous to somewhere. None of us were always colonizers or conquerors. We all have people in our ancestry who were once lived connected with the earth, in harmony with the land. This book offers 100 short reflections, each with a recommended practice for leaning into values and lives informed by qualities of indigenous wisdom that Woodley recommends:-respect, harmony, friendship, humor, equality, authenticity, history, work/rest balance, generosity, and accountability.

Refreshing and paradigm shifting!
I’m absolutely loving Dr. Woodley’s newest book “Becoming Rooted”! I’ve been in a journey of reclaiming my indigeniety and reconnecting to the earth; this book has been a wonderful companion! Every day I love reading a short passage that reminds me to stay connected and open to the mystery/wisdom of the ecological community. I appreciate that every entry ends with an question to reflect on or a practical action step.I decided to invite friends to go through the book with me and everyone has agreed that this book is refreshing and paradigm shifting! I highly recommend Becoming Rooted!

Come on a journey with creation
This book is an invitation to (re)discover the community of creation. It gently invites readers to reconsider some of the harmful myths of domination and hierarchy we have been taught, and learn from Indigenous wisdom and practices. The book helps guide us into living at peace with the land and the self, embodying "the harmony way" for a more sustainable future for us all. A great place to start when considering earth justice, and a great tool for practices to root us in the land and the community of creation.

Remarkable Devotional Book!
This remarkable devotional book helped me to see the importance of needing to connect with nature and be in tune with the earth through attentive listening. If we listen well enough, creation is groaning for us to be better stewards of creation as human beings.

Loved it
I really loved this inspiring little book. I found myself underlining, taking notes and sharing little tidbits with my husband often, and found the daily prompts for further thought or practice valuable. Randy is a fantastic storyteller and I love reading about his perspectives on faith and relationship with Creator and creation.

A facilitated journey of reconnecting with the earth.
This book is artfully crafted as 100 days of short readings. Reconnecting with the earth is not a quick thing, and I appreciate the small daily steps. The 100 days get you well started on the journey. The indigenous perspective is an essential piece to understanding our current situation as humans on this planet. Randy Woodley is an important voice for our time. I will probably go through this book more than once, and have already recommended it to a lot of people.
