This expensive material is a great favorite of wound care specialists.The Promogran material sits on the bed of an un-healed wound (clip a small piece to fit with the wound with sterile scissors). Cover with full dressing, gauze pads, ABD dressing, and so on. It disappears over time as it takes effect. It accelerates healing tremendously in most patients.Be certain wound is clean and not infected.

This product really works. I had a Brest reduction and the incision opened up. And my doctor recommended this. Usually that takes 6 months to open up but because of this product it closed up in 2 &1/2 months. This is a great!!! I hope I don’t have to it again though.

This product used at my hospital's wound center but not covered for out-patient use by my insurance. Very good soothing ability on an open wound and promotes healing from the bottom of the wound. The silver in the product reduces the chance of infection. Well worth a try on stubborn wounds.

Have a wound on bottom of foot that would not heal. Wound center said to use Promogran Prisma Matrix. Wound has now reduced in size by 90% in just two months. Doctor said he is sure it will completely heal now without surgical intervention. Wonderful product!

One of the few primary dressings that is bio-reabsorb-able: Can be left in wounds and should theoretically not cause any foreign body reaction. The silver (prisma) is antimicrobial. It is expensive, but it is generally not necessary to change out this primary dressing on a daily basis. The secondary dressing which should be used over it should be changed more often or as needed. I used it on a deep fistula that was left after incision and drainage of a pilonidal cyst, with no worries about packing it into the wound and accidentally leaving fragments behind that could cause big problems should I have used another dressing that is not bio-re-absorbable. Purchasing a larger amount (i.e. box of 10) gets one a better price. The 4.34 square inch size is pretty small. Plan accordingly.
