Grew as expected
We needed a cover crop for our garden spot. This grew as expected and started coming up within a week.

Outstanding!
Quick germ, a foot tall in like two-three weeks. And even though it's a winter rye, plant didn't start dying until it was at least 84 degrees outside! Hardy plant!

Took a little longer than others, but exploded after five weeks!
This winter rye took longer to germinate than other brands I have sourced and so some of it definitely went to the birds (they gotta eat too right?). It took five weeks from the first frost to really get going and I am pleased. If you're looking to buy for ASAP growth, I might suggest looking elsewhere. But if you're planning ahead I got a very good germination rate with just a little patience.

Used to repair Hsrd Clsy SoilThe root dig deep into my hard clay soil and open it up
This qwickly grows deep into my clay soil and make a path to let water and air reach deep into the soil when it dies out in summer

Results not in until spring
I could not give this product a five, since results will not be in until spring of 2019. I planted it on a piece of land that has hard, clay-like soil with few nutrients. Grass will not grow on it. The idea is that winter rye (and this is rye grain, not grass) puts roots deep into the ground and loosens the soil. Rye is one of the nitrogen fixing plants that fertilizes the ground if you plow it under in the spring. The germination was good and occurred after a few days, so I hope it works. I will post the results in a few months. I have followed this procedure a couple of times --years ago--and it worked.

Didn't grow
Less than 10 % of the seeds germinated. I waited for the heat wave to end so the temps didn't exceed 80 and they still didn't grow

Amazing
Planted late fall. Grew quickly and has stayed green all winter. I will be tilling under in a couple of weeks. Will use this again in late fall. Very pleased!
