Drummer Mike Johnston developed these sticks with Vic Firth. These are the perfect balance of attack, sound, and super comfortable in hand. I think they’re versatile but it’s bread and butter genre would be for R&B, Pop, Jazz, and CCM music. A little light for rock in my opinion.

I've been using these sticks since they were introduced. These are the new standard for drumsticks if you play an acoustic set (for electronic you should be playing a nylon tip). I've been playing for over 50 years and have switched sticks depending on the genre and set style. No more. These sticks tick all the boxes. Since virtually all venues amplify the drums you no longer need to wail away to be heard. Because of this, you can put more finesse into your playing with these sticks and still be heard.Great design Mike.

The stick’s taper is very long. Combine that with a super small barrel tip and you’ve taken away much of the weight from the top of the stick. What this means is that a lot of the bounce and rebound you get from a typical 5A or 5B body is gone. It’s light, I’ll give it that but I did not enjoy playing this pair. I’ll be donating these to the stick bucket at Fork’s.

I love that they are “raw” wood with noFinish, and they have great rebound characteristics. Half barrel tip sounds great on the ride, and stick sizes (between a 5A and 5B) sound nice and meaty on the Toms without excessive energy.NE-1 Stands for NO EXCUSES…

In generale sono ben bilanciate, abbastanza leggere e caratterizzate da una punta più piccola di una normale 5A che crea un suono particolare sui piatti. In particolare ho apprezzato questa caratteristica sul ride.In generale un paio di bacchette adatte a suonare qualsiasi genere. Consigliate!

I got the Mike Johnston Signature series NE-1's, this stick is amazing, it does exactly what his review on YouTube says it does.

excellent sticks, a single pair lasted months.note: they do work on electronic kits but I've heard they can wear down the pads faster. I haven't noticed it much coming from nylon tips. dk, your experience may vary
