What is the best way to install this device? The one I have flew off tonight and I'm not sure which end screws on to the trolley screw.

The hex end screws on to the trolley shaft. The square end is for releasing the spring.

Does the kit include the bolt that the tensioner attaches to?

No. The only item that is included is the tensioner itself.

How long is the spring when expanded & operational. I had to remove mine, and need to compress it back

Don’t try and reset the old one. Replace it with is new one for $4.33. P/N. 41B4103

Does this part need to be greased?

No, it does not. It comes with an oily film on the part and needs no more lubrication.
