Good quality
Haven't installed yet but this product seem to be great quality and has everything you need for install except the tools and skill. The directions even has winch set up suggestions which was a nice addition.

Rock Solid!
Just got this put on today. Went on without a problem and looks great. Looking forward to using it in the next couple of weeks. Install was longer than expected, but that's due to not having professional tools or assistance. I put it on myself, and I'll say I'm not an expert. I have basic knowledge of tools, so I managed fine. I used 3 ton floor jack and lifted the receiver in to position, and drilled my holes without lowering it back down. I found this to be easier since I was doing it by myself. BEWARE!! It is easy to lose the bolts within the frame. I spent an hour fishing a bolt and bracket back out. Wish the line they send would a little longer as well. I mounted mine as far forward as possible, for the ease of making sure it was absolutely straight. So that would probably be why the line wasn't long enough. Found some old copper wire and made my own extension, and it worked just fine. Other than that it's on and I'm more than happy.

Fits well and works fine
Not difficult to install but you need patience to fish the bolts through the frame. It lined up with 5 out of 6 holes in the frame on my 2004 Dodge Ram. The receiver fit just under the bumper without any cutting or part removal. Looks great and works well when needing something other than tow hooks in the front.

Kicka$$ Front Receiver But...
First off, the Curt packaging was better than others I have seen and box arrived in perfect condition. The side handles were very smart indeed being a stout hunk of metal. The front receiver itself is very well built, rated for 9,000 pounds which is great because I plan on installing a Curt receiver winch mount plate in it with a 9,500 pound winch on it eventually. Keeping in mind my Dodge Hemi has been lowered 2", I expected this front receiver to be right under my chrome bumper (with lower plastic ripped off by mother earth TWICE) and it sits WAY lower than I expected (4" below chrome bumper to be exact). I have no choice but to do what my Grandpa would have done / taught us and cut the brand new Curt in half on both sides, cut 4" of metal off on both sides and weld the inside and outside of both sides back together with a floor jack holding it in place while I do. I really don't want to cut up and weld on such a nice painted hunk of metal but a mans gotta deaux what a mans gotta deaux. It has to be done people.I know what y'all are thinking. Why does a Coonass with a lowered 400+HP 2 wheel drive Hemi need with a winch for anyway? That's easy. Because I do a lot of crazy $h** like winching out our 4 wheel drive Tahoe hooked to our 20' boat on a trailer stuck in the lake from trying to launch off the banks while the "boat launch" was closed. Also do things such as pull biga$$ dead trees out of the lake to help keep the lake safe, clean and a bonus...get some firewood.I have some photos to include if the link would please present the opportunity again.

Low clearance and winch rating. Here's a better option:
The best thing about this hitch receiver is the easy install. The 6 included fish wires pulled everything together without having to fight the bolts into place and were the best thing in the box. A ratchet strap around the radiator and bumper held everything in place while putting the nuts on with ease.Unfortunately, the receiver is set lower than it really needs to be in order to clear the bumper on my 04 ram 1500. Once I put the winch on, it is damn near digging up dirt without a load in the bed. Perhaps a leveling kit or a lift would make it better, or if it were designed so it could be installed upside-down to go through the middle of the bumper, that would be a definite plus. Also the fact that it is only rated for 9,000 lbs of straight pull when it's recommended to use at least 1.5 to 2 times the weight of the truck when sizing your winch kinda leaves this as a weak link in your system.Of course a receiver through the bumper wouldn't work for a plow, but then again most plows mount to the bottom of the frame anyway, so a winch mounted through the bumper still would be ideal as a receiver mounted plow is a compromise to accommodate a winch mount. In the end, I'm probably going to end up using a Class V weld on receiver, cut to length, with side plates through bolted to either side of the frame for my winch, as I would recommended over this product IF you are or know a competent welder to fab it up. Of course I would much prefer one manufactured and powder coated from Curt or any other reputable manufacturer, but it is what it is.

Perfect fit ‘04 Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab
This is a nice quality hitch. I put this on an ‘04 Dodge Ram 1500 and I really like that it doesn’t lessen my ground clearance. At first it looked like I was going to need to cut a notch in the plastic below the bumper but it turned out that I didn’t. You will need a floor jack or some kind of lift (or a couple of hefty friends) to get it in place. It took about two hours from the time I cut the box open until it was completely installed. The bulk of that time was figuring out the directions, they’re a little vague, and fishing the bolts and plates into position inside the frame. I had help raising it into position; getting the bolts lined up with the holes in the hitch without knocking them back inside the frame was tricky. We tied line onto the bottom of each screw and fed it thru the holes in the hitch which let us hold the screws steady while raising the hitch into place. I’m am fairly mechanical and my friend isn’t at all but it went on smoothly and without needing any alterations.I originally bought this to use with a home snowplow but realized that I needed much heavier plow to handle my road. I’ve read about people using the front hitch for backing campers into tight spots and I can see where this would be pretty handy. I plan to use this for a bike rack instead of putting them on the back of the camper where they would be blocking a storage door.

Solid mount
Put on 07 ram 1500 slt. Wire for bolt installation could have been just a little longer but had some piano wire left over from a machine alignment, made it longer. No biggie. Used for my 11,000lb winch, boat launching, dirtbike rack, and utility carrier for water jugs when heading out on extended camper vacations. Good stuff, no issues. Added nord-lock washers for no real reason, bolts haven't come loose since installing.
