Disappointed
My son was really sad that he had this already- they’ve just literally changed the cover. I thought it was a new one for the platinum jubilee but should’ve read the small print!

A great crossover story, with what children are learning about the coming jubilee.
Mr Men and Little Miss The Royal Party book. The book is in a large paperback format, 25cm x 0.3cm x 23 cm, and has 32 pages with a medium sized text and full page coloured pictures on every other page. We thought it was going to be a smaller book, so we’re please with this large version.“Little Miss Helpful is organising a special party, a jubilee street party with Little Miss Princess as the guest of honour. But Little Miss Helpful isn't as good at organising things as her name would suggest, and so it isn't long before things start to go wrong, especially once Little Miss Naughty gets involved! “The book is full of your favourite characters, Mr Tickle is ours, and the text is easy to read, with some help in places, for my 5 year old granddaughter. She’s starting to learn about the jubilee celebrations at school, so she will be able to crossover her lessons with this book. She’s really happy with the book, and read it at bedtime as soon as it arrived.

Disappointing
This is not like all my other Mr Men books which are hardback and small. This is a glossy floppy paperback.Whilst advertised as for the Queens Jubilee there is zero mention of the Queen in the story. None at all. The only hint is that its a royal occasion which meant a big party. The story is of Little Miss Helpful trying to organise a street party but getting everything messed up, like Ham and Jam sandwiches and Little Miss Naughty ends up helping her.I like the illustrations, and the pictures are nice and colourful, but for me i would have liked to have seen The Queen mentioned in the story, perhaps a new story about the Jubilee, instead of an old one rehashed with a purple cover. It would have been so easy. There was a royal occasion, a special occasion you see, for Her Majesty The Queen has been Queen for 70 years. Everyone in the land was given 4 days off to celebrate so Little Miss Helpful decided to organise a street party..... That took me 10 seconds.

Little Miss Helpful and Little Miss Naughty team up to organise a royal street party …
Little Miss Helpful is in a panic. She is trying to organise a street party where Little Miss Princess will be the guest of honour, but the more she tries to do, the more everything goes wrong - from mustard being put into scones to the bunting getting all tangled up! Fortunately, Little Miss Naughty offers to help her but Little Miss Helpful isn’t sure she likes the naughty glint in Little Miss Helpful’s eye. Surely Little Miss Naughty couldn’t plan to do something very naughty, could she …?Based on his father Roger Hargreaves’s hugely successful LITTLE MISS and MR MEN SERIES, Adam Hargreaves’s self-illustrated picture book has all the charm and silly humour of the original books and although it’s aimed to tie in with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, works on its own merits aside from that. I particularly enjoyed Little Miss Naughty’s devilish cunning and how things nevertheless come good at the end.I picked this up because I read MR MEN AND LITTLE MISS - HAPPY EID a couple of weeks ago, and really enjoyed seeing how Adam Hargreaves was continuing his dad’s work with new books. This book is clearly aimed at being a tie-in for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the UK (where street parties were being held) but to be honest, because there’s no direct reference to the Queen (with the party being for Little Miss Princess instead) you can pick this up and enjoy it on its own merits. The story is a simple one: Little Miss Helpful wants to organise a party but isn’t very good at it. Little Miss Naughty volunteers to help and ropes in some of the other Mr Men and Little Miss characters to organise things but she has an ulterior motive for doing so that threatens everything. There’s plenty of trademark Mr Men/Little Miss Silliness in the book, e.g. Mr Impossible helping with the weather and Little Miss Helpful accidentally making ham and jam sandwiches. Little Miss Naughty is very naughty indeed and I did like the descriptions of her crocodile smile (which is emphatically reinforced by the illustrations) and enjoyed how Little Miss Helpful was able to rescue things when Little Miss Naughty’s plan becomes apparent. All in all, this is an entertaining and deeply silly book that kept me chuckling from beginning to end.
