I got these to color/number my birds for breeding pairs. Got them in and they are one solid piece, I will have to cut them apart before banding the birds. Wasn’t expecting that as all the pictures show the bands individually. Size is perfect for finches though. It took me a minute to figure out exactly how to use the tool, but once I got it, I really appreciate how easy it is to use. Just remember to put the band on the tool BEFORE you catch the bird, because it's easier to set up with two hands. I am banding my Zebra Finches, and have banded 3 breeding pairs and 2 clutches of 4 babies each. I banded one clutch several days after they fledged, and it was easy peasy to slip the band onto their little legs without too much stress. The second clutch I banded the day they fledged and had some problems with the bands falling off after placement. The actual banding process was easy for both - maybe too easy with the 2nd batch. I have re-banded 3 of the 4 and so far the new bands have remained in place. These bands are not overly expensive, and so far seem to be useful for my renewed hobby. I raised finches back in the last century, but had to give it up when life got in the way. Starting over is a journey. This product makes it a little easier.

My zebra finch gave me problems putting her foot in the tube, but I got it on her finally. I have 5 more babies that I need to put them on, I like how they are different colors and numbers. It's pretty easy once you get their foot to go inside the tube.

Put these on my zebra finches and everything seemed well. A few weeks later, nearly half of the birds had the leg band slide down and get stuck over their foot, causing the foot to swell and bleed, or turn black, shrivel and fall off. So painful and once it got stuck the foot swells up and it's very hard to cut the rubber band of. I would from now on ONLY buy hard leg bands like metal or plastic ones. The rubber ones can expand and grip, so they get stuck when the birds pull on them.

These could be so great. They are pretty easy to attach, and once attached they stay on a bird's leg snugly. Since they are elastic, they are a lot safer for birds, they don't get snagged on things nearly as easily as more rigid leg bands can. However, there is one major flaw with this product (and I've used over 100 of these bands).... the numbers rub off very quickly. I've had birds with one of these bands on for less than 1 month have the numbers completely disappear. All of the birds that I put these bands on have just blank, no-number bands now. And now I can't tell them apart, which was the purpose of the bands with numbers in the first place.
