If you're a fan of Tom Clancy The Division video game this is a must read!
Stays true to the lore in the game but adding in new factions and characters to make the reading experience that more thrilling!

Solid but short Division story
Short story but overall I enjoyed it. I also liked that at times this book doesn't pull it's punches, out of the blue characters will just die in sad, brutal ways that fits with how this world works but in more traditional stories these very likable character would have survived. My only complaint is that the jokey, graveyard humor with the main characters starts to get old after a while. I tried to tell myself that in a real life situation someone (maybe even two people in the same group) would talk and act this way in order to cope with the stress and horror they are dealing with. But it still bothered me at times, the author should have scaled it back a little.

Immerses you in the world of The Division!
I don’t expect great writing when I read licensed fiction, but I got it here. Thomas Parrott crafts a story from the world of The Division that shouldn’t be missed if you’re a fan of the game.

A Great Read
Says a lot about the state of the world outside of D.C. and after the events of the Division 2. Sets a lot of the stage for the world of Heartlands expansion.

Go deeper into the world of The Division
A lot of people might view game tie-in books as just a money grab, with publishers trying to cash in on a property’s popularity. But IMO that’s the exception rather than the rule. The truth is that many of the games that spawn book series feature incredibly detailed world with rich lure begging to be further explored, and since the games themselves take so long to develop, books are a wonderful way for us fans to get a chance to get more of what we love. I’m happy to say Recruited, a novel set in the game world from Tom Clancy’s The Division (a game I love even though I’m absolutely horrible at it, lol) is a solid action novel. A book I would have enjoyed even if I’d never played the games, though knowing the world from the game absolutely enhanced my enjoyment. There is definitely a story here, perhaps not the deepest but certainly serviceable enough. Things aren’t going well for Maira and her group of survivors. They suffered losses, are running out of supplies, and so make the decision they need to expand their scavenging further out into more dangerous territory. Naturally it’s no walk in the park, and again and again Maira and her group come under attack, losing some of her team while encountering new allies. As expected the story is heavy on action with most of those action scenes being well written. While enjoyable just as an action novel, fans of the games are likely to recognize and appreciate the little nods to the game. Thanks to Aconyte Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review the eARC of Tom Clancy’s The Division: Recruited.

Gateway story to direct to upcoming game Heartland
Feels like context filler to get players from Division 2 story to Heartland story. Nothing stood out as memorable, it felt like all ticky boxes were all checked so that now the background ties in the Midwest.I recommend reading interview with the author to get a sense for his choice of new character.

A great Division story

Division fan boy
Good read and nice pace but a little too short. Character builds are good but the actual use of equipment the game is based around (turrets, seeker mines, sticky bombs etc) glossed over or added afterwards.
