Great for milkshakes
I like milkshakes, so I took the plunge to buy it & I'm glad I did.Today (13/09/22), I got some vanilla ice cream out of the freezer & carved enough out with a spoon to fill it up to about a 3rd of the jug. I then put 3 heaped tablespoons (next time I'll drop it to 2) of Nesquik chocolate powder into it & then covered it with milk, so that it's just under half full.I mixed it using the 1st setting, which does most of it, but some ice cream was still in lumps which is where the 2nd speed was used, to blend it out fully.I poured it into a glass to check for any remaining lumps & then back into the blender for 1 last whiskI'm now sitting with a chocolate milkshake, which isn't perfect yet, until I sort out the amounts of each item, but it's still much better than putting milk & Nesquik into a glass & trying to mix it by hand.I'd recommend this to anyone, as it's not expensive but does the job well enough.Just make sure you don't fill it up too much, as there's no cover/lid to keep contents inside.Halfway in the jug makes about half a pint :)

Lovely mixer
Edit: Coming back after 2 years, I still use this machine regularly and love it a lot. For the money, it still makes a great frappe... but you have to know how to make a frappe! For the initiated:1. Get yourself some instant freeze-dried coffee. I use Kenco Millicano Americano which all the supermarkets have.2. Add a spoonful of this, a little bit of water (maybe 100 ml max) and a few icecubes and beat until it's a foam.3. Decant this into a glass.4. Wash the metal mug, then add 50ml milk and a few icecubes5. Mix this until it foams up6. Decant into the glassObviously, if you don't like milk just double up the quantity of water. Sugar can be added at either stage. If you put too much liquid it will of course splash around... go conservatively when trying it, to avoid massive spillage.Original review: I've had a chance to use this mixer for the last 2 months, and it is really good at making frappes and other cold beverages. Stick in a lump of ice, your coffee, and your water, and it'll soon have it whipped to a froth. I was skeptical, I will admit, that this mixer could handle solid ice - not a problem at all however.A tip on cleaning: it's true that you can't remove the little mixer stick in order to wash it; what you CAN do, though, is fill the cup with water (soapy water, if you want), stick it back on the mixer and give it a little whirl. All your cleaning is done. This is a very good looking kitchen appliance, very practical, and at the price, very easy to recommend.

Does not crush ice or frozen fruit
I bought this to mix tiki cocktails rather than for milkshake, it's ideal for this purpose, stirs well and incorporates and aerates ingredients. However if I were using to make milkshakes I would want it to also break down ice and it doesn't do this as the blending attachment is plastic not metal. Great if you're looking for a cheaper equivalent of a Hamilton Beach type cocktail mixer, but honestly will still be making milkshakes and smoothies in the blender as it's not going to pulp frozen fruit etc. Also note it's metallic looking plastic not metal, I think this is fine given the price point but worth noting. I think it's got a great retro look but you do need counter space to keep it. Specialised bit of kit.

Milkshake Magic
First of all I dont write reviews normally but felt inclined to for this.(I'd also like to mention i have had this machine for like 2days thus far so can't speak for how long it will last)I was on the market for a milkshake machine as I do love a milkshake! Read up on this and thought I'd give it a punt and let me tell you not disappointed. I read the reviews on here and although some weren't great let me tell you I'm well happy with this product. To be clear I brought it solely for making milkshakes and nothing else and it does that perfectly in my opinion. Cant speak for anything else but if you want the kind of milkshake brought from a restaurant/diner for £25 you can't go wrong with this. The only gripe I would have is the mixing arm isn't detachable which means you can't take it off and clean it having said that you can just throw some water in the mixing cup and blast it after every use so not the end of the world.

Good but don’t look like it will last
So far so go. However I have only used it a couple of times and the motor seemed to get really hot.Doesn’t look like it will last long, but makes a nice milkshake.

Managed to make two milkshakes before it stopped working
It's just about the cheapest of the spindle machines on offer at Amazon and had reasonable reviews, do I decided to give it a try. I made the first shake using Shmoo chocolate milkshake mix. It came out perfectly and I was very pleased. The next night I made another using the Cadbury's choc shake mix I had been using with a hand blender previously. The flavour is good but not as thick as the Schmoo. The machine appeared to be working perfectly. A few minutes later I washed the mixing jug under running warm water, inserted the jug in the machine to rinse the rotor and switched it on. Nothing happened. I made sure it was inserted correctly, switched it to both slow and fast speeds and still nothing happened. The only thing I could think of was that it might have some kind of thermal cutout that had kicked in so I left it for an hour or so before trying again. It was still dead. It was returned to Amazon on the third day.Iv'e since purchased a heavy duty, all stainless steel machine with twin motors, each nearly twice as powerful as the Livivo one from the Vevor manufacturer's website. It costs around three times the price but as they say, you get what you pay for. I'm glad I didn't simply ask for a replacement for the Livivo one. I don't think their quality control is good enough.
