Q: Can these studs go through thick denim / jeans?

I would look for studs w/ longer teeth.

Yes they are, I’m actually using them in real leather jackets

Q: Is there a tool available that can set these? I need to place several rows of studs in a section of marine vinyl.

I don't know of any tools. What I use to bend the teeth into place is the flat end of a pen. I had to add 600 studs to a Gene Simmons KISS costume and the pen worked fine and It only took me a few hours.

Q: Is there a machine to fold the prongs over on the back-side? Like a stapler?

NO, I WAS ABLE TO USE A SMALL JEWELRY PLIERS/TOOL THAT I HAVE TO FOLD THE PRONGS AND SECURE THEM FOR A PERFECT ATTACHMENT. AND IT'S BEEN A WHILE NOW AND THEY'RE STILL ALL INTACT NICE AND TIGHT. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM AT ALL. HOPE THAT HELPS.
