The smell was strong at first, but eventually dissipates. I was going to return it thinking he smell wouldn’t go away and also that it will eventually start smelling like regular yoga towels. I was wrong! Washed it in the tub and it’s like new. No smell! Great grip! The Emily mat shows no stains because of the dark colors. Because it is a hybrid towel and mat combo, i would suggest getting the darker blue mat because this material will eventually get dirty. Other than that, not one complaint after I broke in my new yoga mat. It’s my go to now for hot yoga!
