Great grill. I am using regular instant lighting charcoals. Works great, is not a fast grill so you cook and drink with your friends while cooking. Also is really easy to clean.

This grill is small to begin with. The charcoal area is even smaller. This grill is o k if you want to cook a steak or a couple of small fish fillets. The price is too high for what you get. I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just purchased this mini grill. The tiny, tiny inside aluminum tray is totally useless, you can barely fit in it a few briquettes and forget hard wood charcoal, and it wastes 25% of the surface, but there is a solution - TOSS the inside tray and deposit the charcoal directly into the larger black cast iron case, then at least you can fit in a few briquettes and utilize 100% of the surface area. I grilled some fish and eggplants with hardwood charcoal, it came out pretty good.

Can get annoying to clean, especially the black part since it has air holes that are too small to fit proper cleaning brushes. Just have to soak in soapy water. Can't really put too much charcoal. You can put a little more charcoal if you opt not to use the metal container that comes with it. Grill came in a simple cardboard box with no instructions. Would be nice to know what the metal container lid is for.
