Full of twists and turns
This book will keep you interested as the authors weave a story full of surprises and deception. I did not anticipate the ending as it developed. A good read.

Ethically Challanged
NYPD Detective First Class, Lauren Stillwell, also a lawyer, suspects her husband, Paul, of having an affair. Their married life deteriorating, Lauren decides to have a one-night stand of her own. She chooses a young undercover narcotics detective, Scott Thayer, who has recently made flirty advances toward her. Lauren’s night of revenge soon turns deadly when she witnesses a brutal murder. To make matters worse, she is assigned as lead detective to solve the murder. From this point on, Lauren is involved in a series of moral missteps—delaying investigative progress, deception, and falsifying and suppressing evidence all under the guise of protecting herself and her husband. The book starts off with a bang with more than enough intrigue to satisfy even the most critical mystery aficionados. Constant surprises keep the reader turning pages. I won’t go further into the story for fear of depriving the reader of these surprises. Patterson and Ledwidge enrich the story with their writing style providing humor and just the right mix of exciting narration and dialogue to bolster the story. The authors bring Lauren Stillwell to life early on. The reader gets to know her as a thoughtful but hardnosed detective. Lauren is a lovable character in spite of her continuing ethical lapses and moral misdeeds which she feels forced to engage in to protect her family. Lauren is spunky, courageous, funny and spirited. The reader quickly falls in love with her.I have read over 40 Patterson books—The Quickie is one of his very best. I rate it a 5 out of 5.

The story line that is always in motion twisting and turning a new direction.
Great action packed story that leads you on a trail of murder and suspense never letting you think you have the whole plot figured out. Characters are very believable and police are always chasing their tails and the story being played for them to follow. Three way love story is not going to have a happy ending for anyone involved and which fox will win the game of cat and mouse. Quick, easy reading pleasure for murder mystery lovers.

My Last Patterson
What happened to the guy who wrote such fun suspenseful books in the beginning. This was trite, boring, predictable and the writing was juvenile. I’m aggravated that I spent $7.99 on it. Won’t happen again.

Great read
Fast paced reading with a terrific surprise at the end. Recommend not reading too close to bedtime as you won't make it on time.

A Thriller That Asks Questions
The Heroine of this novel is NOT likable and that is the bit of genius that makes it stand out from the crowd. It isn't your run of the mill thriller. The Quickie starts out with the Heroine making an unethical decision to cheat on her husband. It's an act of revenge, taken after catching him in infidelity. The situation is such that it doesn't seem like such a horrible thing to do to the reader, at yet it soon becomes clear that this is the point where she first went wrong. The rest of the book explores the consequences of that first action and the further consequences of trying to dodge those consequence. Each action the heroine takes to clean up the mess she created only makes a bigger mess. She is continually presented with the choice: Dig herself deeper or face up to the penalties she's accrued already. Most thrillers end with evil defeated and the world set to right once more. I would hardly say that is the case with this book. Instead, it leaves you with the feeling that there are no simple answers and that even though you might win by fighting dirty, you pay a price whether you realize it or not.

Page turner!
This was the first book by Patterson that I ever read and afterwards I read many more over 10 years ago. Fast forward to now and I recommended it to my book club. I remembered the base of the story but couldn’t remember the exact details and decided I better read it again so that I could talk about it during our meeting. Well, it did not disappoint the second time either. The story pulls you in and pretty soon the whole book is done. Great read!

Enjoyable
Not easy for me to find Patterson books I haven't read but just happened on "the Quickie" and was unsure at first on the subject matter as our heroine began the book having sex with a work colleague. As usual though, all becomes clear and we are taken through a thrilling ride of a story.I never find anything to critique about his books, even down to the editing, grammar etc. I love all the collaborations, who are all excellent authors in their own right. Just keep churning them out for me!

Great Beach Read
Overall, a,very easy and enjoyable read in the Patterson genre - lots of short chapters! The story is entirely implausible, and has sufficient twists to keep you turning the pages right until the very end. There's plenty of "Will she, won't she" themes which build up very obviously, giving the sense that the reader knows what's going to happen next...but has to keep reading, just to be sure. It's easy to keep track of where you are, so perfect for the beach and other places where 100% concentration on tricky plots and complicated characters is impossible.

The Quickie
Love the book. The best read in a long time. The build up to an incredibly exciting story had me hooked. So many twists and unexpected turns had me thinking that it had to be the end then again it turned another corner and hey were off again. The ending was fantastic and believable. Very well written. I would recommend this book my friends.
