This edge-of-your-seat suspense thriller stars Ewan McGregor (MOULIN ROUGE, TRAINSPOTTING) and Nick Nolte (I LOVE TROUBLE, CAPE FEAR) leading an exciting Hollywood cast! Martin (McGregor) is a cash-strapped law student trying to make easy money as night watchman at the old city morgue. But Martin's peaceful graveyard shift fast becomes a time of terror when a serial killer begins wreaking havoc after hours ... and leaving behind clues pointing to Martin's guilt! Also starring Patricia Arquette (ED WOOD, FLIRTING WITH DISASTER) and Josh Brolin (MIMIC), NIGHTWATCH is a stylishly original motion picture that leads you on a shocking series of twists and turns!

Good movie with the perfect star.
I gotta say, I'm impressed. Not at all what I expected, and I love Ewan McGregor. But I kept thinking of him as Obi-Wan, jumping into the midst of General Grievous' army and saying so nonchalantly, "Hello there!" Hahahaha. I could hear a bit of Obi-Wan creeping into he Martin character, which is really just his British accent. They made a good choice when they selected him for young "Ben Kenobi."

VERY 90s. Lol
This was a hokey 90s movie, but I love me some Ewan Mcgregor, and it was great fun to see him having so much fun filming.I was lured into watching this by friends because I also work in a morgue. HahahaOver all great film, with a good twist!!

overall very good.
I was getting ready to go to work one morning and getting engrossed in a movie that was playing on cable. I didn't have time to find the movie's title and when I tried to find it later on I couldn't. Years later I googled the plot and found this title, it was the correct movie so I ordered it and watched it all. It is riveting, shocking, fascinating, sometimes comical, overall very good.

This was a tight suspense thriller with excellent actors, some of my favorites
This was a tight suspense thriller with excellent actors, some of my favorites. Has a twist in the story which really elevates the film to a higher level. Hadn't heard of this movie before, which surprised me since I always try to see Ewan McGregor in anything. Love to find a terrific movie with a fabulous cast.

It is what is isn't... You decide.
Cliche, dark, predictable, campy, with a wee bit of cheese, no motive, pointless juvenile behavior and a guy with a future with a good woman sounded by bad influence. But... I LOVE Ewan McGregor and Josh Brolin so, the what the heck? John C. Reilly was quiet cool and Nick Nolte was just... Ugh....! HE deserves so much better than this movie has to offer him. But, hey... It had Brad Dourif and who doesn't love Chucky? Lol

Creepy!
Oh yeah! This is a good one. All the right elements. The morgue, the night watchman, the dead and one spooky facility. Creepy is the word.

A grisly and suspenseful mystery
Law student Ewan McGregor takes work as a security guard in a hospital morgue just as a spate of sex killings sweeps the city. His disturbed friend Josh Brolin involves him in increasingly risky tricks while Nick Nolte, the cop heading the murder investigation, treats him quizzically. McGregor’s twitchy nocturnal shifts soon turn into a full-blown game of survival. Danish director Ole Bornedal has reworked his tense 1994 Euro-thriller with the help of Steven Soderbergh, who co-wrote the script. This could account for the playfully understated humour lurking at the edges of a grisly and suspenseful mystery. McGregor lends a vulnerable, human dimension to the wildly Gothic proceedings, looking intently at the mortuary alarm (which, he’s been assured, will never go off ) and taking a baseball bat on his hourly rounds of the dead zone. These are creepy scenes, the stuff of urban mythology, and Bornedal stages them with a keen eye for killing detail. Solid support from Deadwood’s Brad Dourif (funny as a tetchy, pill-popping doctor) and John C. Reilly.

A great suspense thriller
I really did enjoy this movie, most people would probably say that it is far from one of Ewan McGregor's best works, I'd go along with that but 'Nightwatch' is still a great suspense thriller. It probably helps if you do like Ewan, or the other star names in the feature like Patricia Arquette and Josh Brolin, but it still found it to be creepy and suspenseful from start to finish.Martin Bells (McGregor) is a college student who is hopeful to make some money for himself by taking a job as a watch man at the old city morgue. What he originally believes to be an easy job for easy cash, soon proves to be much more difficult than first expected. A mysterious serial killer has been murdering prostitutes, and before he kills them, he makes them play dead. Now, the murderer starts to stalk Martin on his night shifts by playing sick mind games with the dead corpses. It is all very creepy, sometimes quite funny in parts, and Ewan McGregor and the rest of the star cast are excellent in their roles.I have yet to see the original Danish version of this film. However, if it is even better than this 1997 remake, I really should.

Atmospheric little gem don't watch alone!
Martin Bells(Ewan McGregor) is no different from most students? He's poor and desperate to find a way to find extra cash and when a job comes up as night watchman at the morgue in the city that happens to be in a desolate old part where no-one goes he jumps at the opportunity. He meets the retiring watchman who tells him his duties, the pitfalls of the job and just enough to scare him rigid having taken him for a visit to a morgue filled to overflowing. As Martin takes over, bodies start to arrive thick and fast when a serial-killer begins a reign of terror leaving enough clues that unfortunately point to Martin being the murderer.Patricia Arquette who plays Martins girlfriend is at one crime scene when the murderer is stil there. Who does she see? Is it Martins best-friend (Josh Brolin)?Perhaps the Doctor from the mortuary - Brad Dourif? It couldn't be the Police Inspector (Nick Nolte) or his Sgt surely? Some parts of this DVD are quite comical but others LITERALLY scare the pants off you with the shadows, flickering lights and dark hospital-like corridors that echo all the time.Well worth a watch and 4****

Not bad...for its time and budget
Not a bad film, it’s very of its time.I enjoyed the idea of revisiting the film very much but it is best watched by the new viewer. Even a decade between viewings I remembered the majority of the film.See it and perhaps watch the foreign original.
