Gariz Genuine Leather XS-CHDFBK Camera Metal Half Case for Nikon DF, Black

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL REVIEW: I liked this Gariz half-case on my silver Nikon Df so much that I purchased a second Gariz when I recently bought another Df in the black version. My only regret is the price of these Gariz cases dropped $10 since I made my most recent purchase in May 2015.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Very high quality leather half-case for my Nikon Df that enhances the protection, look and feel of this camera. At first inspection out of the box, the case is elegantly designed with high quality leather that is exquisitely cut, shaped and stitched. The case exactly fits the camera's curves and corners, and aligns perfectly with the Df's controls, doors, buttons and LCD screen on the camera's front, sides and back.The case was very easy to install on the camera body, and its metal base screws directly and securely into the bottom of the camera through the tripod connector. Once installed, the case adds about a 10mm to the overall height of the camera to accommodate a depression in the base which allows access to the Df's battery / SDHC memory card door. The depression creates a modest challenge to easily remove the battery and memory card, but with a little patience, gravity and decent length fingernails, both can be extracted. Insertion of these two essential camera components isn't a problem.Since my Gariz case is brand new, the leather is still more slippery than the camera's "rubberized" material covering the hand grip area on the right side, and I'm hoping that the Gariz's leather will become increasingly "tacky" over time to provide a more secure grip.In addition to providing an extra layer of protection against scratches, dents or dings to the Df's sides and edges, the Gariz case adds an additional look of elegance to this camera's already distinctive and classic "retro" beauty. And while $119 for a leather half-case may seem high, it suits the already high $3,000+ price tag of this Nikon camera.If you love your Nikon Df, I'd definitely recommend this half-case from Gariz as the perfect complement for protection and style.

This case is well made and fits the camera perfectly. Provides a layer of added protection from scratches and complements the camera with a quality look. No need to remove the case from the camera to change the battery or SD Card. Another nice feature is the case ring connector that screws into the tripod holder on the camera is indented such that the ring folds downward to make it flush with the case bottom or if you have a shoulder sling the ring connector will unfold so allow the sling to be connected to it.

The product was great fit to the camera and look cool but one thing that take a full stars from this review was the shipping package so damaged that the boxes and products inside were not in original shape.

My already stylish Nikon DF just got a little cooler with this half case from Gariz. The quality is great and the metal bottom increases protection without added weight. This case won't keep your camera safe during a drop or fall, but it will definitely help minimize damage caused by minor bumps and scratches during everyday use. Only downside is that it makes removing the SD card difficult if you have long nails. I am guessing bigger fingers would probably struggle as well. But it isn't a deterrent to using the case since I am not constantly changing the SD card.

Makes the smallish hand grip just slightly taller and thicker. Helps make the DF a little easier to hold for longer duration. The leather is top notch. Metal plate on the bottom is aluminum and very strong but light. Does not add any noticeable weight to the camera. Seems like it will be durable. But I recently sold my Nikon DF so this half case will be going on to eBay. Won't be able to follow-up with a long term review of it's durability for this reason.

It is very well made and improves the camera handling. It also protects the camera well.
