i have waited for some time to get some history with this device before reviewing it. it is very powerful vacuum-wise. if there is any liquid in the bag contents it will suck it right out of the bag ad make a mess. even on the lowest, gentlest vacuum it can happen. on wet stuff we ended up freezing the contents before evacuating and sealing the bag and that works well. the latching lid is a nice touch so you don't have to press hard while sealing. the variable vacuum is also very nice. the name brand baggers are over twice the price. worth giving it a try for sure.

I've wanted a vacuum sealer for some time as I'm tired of throwing food out that I don't eat quick enough. I received the Gourmia GVS425 the other day and I'm really happy with the product. There's no set up and it's easy to use. I love the fact that there are multiple settings to best accommodate the type of food you're storing. My only criticism is extremely minor and that is that you have to exert some force to lock the bag in before sealing.

In the short time I've had this vacuum sealer I've used it to seal various cuts of meat for freezing, as well as some dry goods, such as trail mix and cookies, for sending to my son serving in the Mid-East (Semper Fi!). In all instances the sealer was easy to use (having spent a bare 3-4 minutes reading the instructions) and seemed to vacuum and seal perfectly. The gentler settings vacuumed a bag of cookies very well without crushing them. I have also used one of the sealed bags of steak to cook sous vide....popped it straight from the freezer into the pre-heated sous vide pot...with great results. This reminds me I should probably mention that the meats were all seasoned - and olive oil added in the bag - prior to sealing. These additions didn't cause any problems in the vacuuming/sealing process. Finally, I appreciate that the unit is light and compact, taking little space in the cupboard (I'm a clean-counter guy, and don't like appliances on the kitchen countertop).Oh, and as soon as I ordered the Gourmia I received an email from the manufacturer, providing contact information in the event I had any problems, which I didn't. Still, I appreciate that they are proactive with their customer service.I would buy this unit again. It's well priced and does exactly what I hoped it would.

I love this machine! I'm a single guy and I like to cook , but I spontaneously eat out. That means that many times my food goes to waste. Not anymore( geez, that's like an infomercial line). I have already been to Costco and bought meat and extra bags. It does a great job! Last night was the first night cooking something I marinated with the machine overnight. When I took it out of the freezer, the meat was still red, no freezer burn, and it tasted excellent! I've even recommended it to other people already. I have already started creating my own bags with certain portions to prep meals for the week and then freeze them. As you can see in my photo, I got a little carried away, but I am saving money. Definitely a great machine. I can spend anywhere from 20-30 bucks a night on dinner and 10 on lunch. I can easily see myself saving close to 600 a month using this machine as I have so much less wasted food!

I really wanted a vacuum sealer for my sous vide cooking. I kept going around Amazon and looking at the nicer expensive ones, thinking you get what you pay for. In the end, I didn't think I would use it often enough to justify those price points and found this one. I got mine at around $32 and didn't expect very high quality.The build itself is plastic and doesn't feel like I can drop it off my counter top but if taken care of, I think it'll last a while. I was pretty impressed with the quality and ease of use. It's fast and works pretty well. I love the variable vacuum function so I can stop just when juices start getting close to the sealing edge. Highly recommend if you're looking for a vacuum sealer for sous vide purposes.

Like others, it does not seal well. Pretty convinced they have a quality control issue. Checked out dry goods and meat a couple days after it was used and all bags were no longer sealed. Used sample bags that came with it and bags I purchased. This can get very expensive very fast when your food is freezer burnt. Did contact customer service and they will exchange it but sure a pain in the neck to box it up, take it down to UPS in rush hour traffic etc,,,,,,

Product worked for about 20 bags in maybe ten sessions of sealing items. It worked well. Then last week (1/28/18) the pump stopped working. No noise, nothing. Silence. The sealer still works. We never had an accident with liquids drawn into the pump, which would have been our problem. We even return it back to the box when we're done. It simply didn't work the next time we took it out of the box to seal a batch of items.

Bought this after seeing all the positive reviews from other owners. It seems like most of the other products along this line have issues not sealing all the way.This one works just as intended. Depending on the size of the bag you use, the process can be completed in as little as 10 seconds. Scents are totally locked in.I'm much happier with this than the $150-200 product reviews said I might have been with something else
