How long should i keep the engine running for UV dye to show up? And do i have to rev it or just idle it?

Since I used the fluorescent dye to detect leaks from the power-steering system I had to drive my car around for approx 15 mins to actually see where it was leaking from. At idle I couldn't see any leaks. After the drive the leak was pretty obvious and the UV light picked it up right away.

Can the kit be used to identify transmission leaks?

transmission leak should b readily identifiable by the red tint already in the fluid to b sure either water blast or at least hose off under hood all oils and then get on fairly clean surface to see if red oil shows up keep in mind u could have more than one leak and some people will put trans fluid in power steering complicating matters
