Yes. My husband uses it as a wallet.

It would if cards only on one side . It would then close unequal

It's not lined; the leather has a suede-like feel.

It will like be a factor of how many business cards you’re carrying in each side. The wallet isn’t gusseted so the number of cards that can comfortably fit will have a lower limit. I use the wallet for credit cards and the like (medical cards, loyalty cards, etc.), 5 in one side and 6 in the other. They fit fine. I’m sure a few more business cards than that on each side would work ok. I find it’s easier to get the card in the back of each side to slide out rather than the one that’s first in the stack.
