I needed this to cut a hole in the center console of my vehicle in order install a USB 3.0 adapter to hook up to my aftermarket stereo for Android Auto/Apple Car Play. It worked like a charm. Had to take a few brakes along the way as the plastic was heating up quickly. No big deal though. It cut the hole as intended and I saved half to 3/4 of the money compared to what was available at Lowe's.

I have half a dozen step drill bits and find them extremely handy. But I needed one with a bit larger diameter steps to enlarge a hole in a piece of mild steel. The item description said "Perfect for home repairs and light jobs such as drilling holes in plastic, aluminum, copper, iron........" So I ordered one. The price was excellent compared to what I saw in the big box stores. All I needed was to enlarge an existing hole in a few items.I chucked it up in my drill press. It didn't cut away even a few tiny chips. All it did was get hot. On a hunch I swapped in a U.S. made step drill whose largest diameter step is just a few millimeters smaller than what I need and it sliced metal chips exactly the way I expected this drill SHOULD have done.I've come to respect Amazon's willingness to take back an item that is substandard. I use this tool to drill on sheet metal and so far it has worked great, it is sharp and I love the feature that it fits my impact drill, no need for another regular drill.

I’m guessing it will work fine with wood, but I bought it for sheet metal, and it barely goes through 30 gauge metals. Mostly just throws sparks and burns it.

I've been using this for a while, not much heavy use but enough to know these just does the job without a hassle. Comes in a nice case too. I really like that it has measurement markings to ensure the right sizing needed

As someone else mentioned with metal, on wood, it mostly just threw sparks and smoke but would not go through wood that was already drilled to about 3mm less.This couldn't even increase the diameter. It did nothing but make everything smell like burning wood. Maybe I don't' understand how it should work, but as a drill bit, I expected it to CARVE. The circles are even, nothing cuts into the material you are pressing it hard against.Lots of heat and smoke, zero material removal. Will be returning.

Works well with Aluminum.

The tool is not sharp, cannot reliably drill 1/8’’ aluminium past 16mm diameter.
