Really excellent product. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Useful but flawed (although I might be the problem!) *by J***H on 19 June 2022* Very nice feeder, which was reasonably easy to set up despite the very poor instructions which I suspect are bad because they have been badly translated into English. I bought this feeder mostly for my girl Maisie, because she has a notoriously ferocious appetite at all times and refuses to believe me or the vet that 20g a day of dry food is more than enough for her--she does get wet food too so I'm not starving her. She snarfs up everything I give her and then she eats Luna's food too if she can get her paws on it. I hoped that using this feeder I would be able to give her several very small, timed feeds each day and so control her appetite a bit. But I'm not convinced that this feeder is going to allow me to do that. I chose this specific feeder because of two things: the description said that the feed bin, that holds the food before it's dispensed into the bowl, is detachable for washing; and because the portion size is meant to be 5g. First, that detachable bin. It must be detachable because the item description says it is, and there's a photo showing it detached in the listing. But can I work out how to detach it? No I can't. I've wriggled it, I've twisted it, I've looked for clips or fastenings, I've shouted at it, I've had a gin, nothing. The damn thing won't budge. The instructions don't give me a clue, and neither does the listing or the company website. No detachable bin for my cats! They will have to make do with an unwashed and uncleanable bin. Bah. Second, that portion size. I've just spent ten minutes happily dispensing food into the bowl then weighing the amount dispensed, then doing it all over again. My cats are livid that I'm playing with their food and Maisie is especially cross because I've not allowed her to eat it all. Some of the times the feeder dispensed 5g of food, sometimes it dispensed 7g or 8g of food, and twice it dispensed under 1g of food. This is disappointing as I was hoping to give Maisie Of The Perpetual Hunger a small amount of food many times a day, to try to reduce her constant demands for sustenance, but with the variation in portion size it looks like I will only be able to give her three or four feeds a day from this feeder, which isn't as much as I'd hoped. I would much prefer it if this dispensed a significantly smaller portion each time, but there's no way to adjust it. The only adjustment that's possible is to say how many portions are dispensed each time and while Maisie says I should set it up to dispense eleventy-million portions every hour I do not agree. All in all, then, a good feeder that could do better. So far Maisie has not managed to knock it over or break into it somehow but it's only a matter of time.
