Size:#8 4 1/2" x 6 5/8" | Color:300 Envelopes Guardhouse glassines are made of a PH neutral, semitransparent paper with no harmful chemicals. Safe for stamps and coins, they are also commonly used to protect photos, negatives, invitations, artwork, gift packets, seeds, crafts and more because of their water, air and grease resistant properties. Guardhouse glassines are carefully constructed with flaps folded on the exterior of the envelope, leaving only a smooth interior pocket surface that will not catch on stamps or other contents. Our glassine envelopes contain un-gummed flaps and are ideal for all of your philatelic materials. Guardhouse Glassines are made with 55 gsm (38#) paper.

These are not "glassine" envelopes.
I am a collector, and I go through thousands of glassine envelopes a year. I know what they are supposed to look and feel like. These are made from some kind of soft tissue paper that feels nothing at all like true glassine paper. These are not as transparent, either, which is a real problem for me.I know and can trust the performance of the traditional glassine envelopes I've been using for years - I have no idea what these are made from, or what effect the materials used will have on my collection.I took the whole order and tossed it in the recycling. Not worth keeping.

I wouldn't buy them again
They are so thin and supple they don't even stay straight when you pick them up. They're as flimsy as tissue paper. I ordered the 3 1/8 x 5 1/16 inch ones as I was hoping they would match in size and quality what I have, but besides the size, which is great, I don't like the quality, and they're more opaque than the ones I have, so you can't immediately spot the specific stamps you store in them. They are not even the Guardhouse brand they are advertised to be. They came in an anonymous cellophane packaging. I don't want to go through the hassle of shipping them back, so I'll just use them. But in my opinion, I don't think it's worth buying them.

One of my essentials
I'm a family historian and have a lot of old family photos or various sizes. I buy several sizes of glassine envelopes to keep each photo. You can write on these with fine point permanent pens rather than the photo itself. I'm also a professional librarian and these are used in many libraries and museums to protect old photos. These are essential for me.

Inconsistent quality
Super disappointed. I've ordered these envelopes in different sizes multiple times over the past year. I have had them come in differnt materials. My last order was for 100 #3 envelopes and the shiny part was on the inside... I've ordered these before and the shiny part was on the outside. I thought I maybe just got a bad batch. Today I received 1000 #3 envelopes and they are all inverted as well.Very frustrated with the product inconsistently. I liked the quality I received a few months ago, but don't feel like gambling on getting a product I like with each order attempt.

Ordered these twice and it was like two different manufacturers
The first order of 200 envelopes were exactly 2.5" x 4.25" and a pristine translucent white. The second order of 200 envelopes a week later were 2.4" x 4.25" inches and slightly yellowed. The quality was not the same. My stamp collection now has a jagged appearance.

Good-quality glassine for the collector...
I needed these envelopes to store and categorize a collection of mine. They had to be just the right size (although multiple sizes are available) and of sufficient quality that they wouldn't compromise their contents. These 100-packs suited this need perfectly. I do believe that they were a little over-priced, but the free Amazon Prime shipping made up for that. In fact, I have gone back and reordered these same envelopes when I ran out of those I bought in the first purchase. If you're OK with the price, then you will not be disappointed with the quality.

Quality has gone down… A lot!
The quality is lacking. I had bought some from this company a few years ago and the quality was great. The glassine was thicker and shiny (like the old post office ones). These new ones are SUPER FLIMSY— they do not hold their shape (I put stamps in them to protect but so flimsy and wrinkles so easily), these are not shiny glassine and not as transparent. I’m bummed. Need to see if there’s a vendor other than “Guardhouse”.

Poor quality glue
The envelopes themselves were good but the glue with which they were constructed was either poor quality or poorly applied -- at least one edge of a large proportion of the envelopes do not adhere, rendering them useless.
