Warranty NOT for New York!
I am comparing this to the many cheapo U locks I have owned, as well as a 70 dollar Kryptonite "New York" long-shackle lock- more or less the Fughettaboudit with a longer 'U'.It is very light. It fits into my rear pocket just fine, and for an even smaller size, you can remove the yellow caps by pulling them off. In that case, I'd find some way to seal the ends as there is just a rubber circular grommet covering the lock's innards. The double-locking action is a great thing because a thief would have to cut the lock twice to get through it.I would NOT use this lock overnight in NYC. However, with the cable (which I did not purchase, but may order separately), it will be fine for securing my bike for a few hours while I want to walk around. In the suburbs, where I live, this is a great alternative to a thicker cable lock (which offers almost no protection), which if paired with a way to secure the wheels and seatpost offer me enough protection that I would leave the bike all day.In my experience, perhaps a 'quiver' of locks for different purposes are much better than a single 'do-it-all' lock. Perhaps a cable lock, mini-u, heavy mini U (Fugheddaboutit), and chain? All locks have their compromises.I will report back to see if I have any locking issues as some other customers have reported.

great value, great size, reasonable weight
If you've avoided U-locks in the past because they were so big and heavy, give this one a try. Hardened steel, double locking construction is pretty secure (certainly much better than any cable or chain with similar weight). The "mini" size should work on any good quality bike rack, though it is not big enough for parking meters. It is also not big enough to lock both wheels; use another lock or a cable to secure the other wheel. Because of the smaller size, the lock is a reasonable weight and size. The package comes with a generous set of 5 keys, for people who are always losing theirs (leave a spare at work and at your friends house and in your car). Some people are complaining about the lock jamming after years of use in the rain, but realistically all locks will have that problem; you really need to oil any lock after every use in the rain. For the $20 price, I really couldn't ask for any more. There are more secure locks out there, but for much higher prices and heavier weights.

Still great, but Onguard's changed the construction
The locking mechanism on my 15-year-old Onguard Bulldog Mini finally froze beyond repair so I had to replace it. I still love this lock and for the price it's a complete no-brainer, but Onguard has clearly changed the construction over that time and I'm not sure it's for the better; this one feels lighter weight and the barrel's end caps don't seem nearly as secure as they used to. I live in San Francisco, where bike theft is worse than in any other city with the possible exception of NYC, and my old Onguard made me feel secure no matter what. In fact, once someone stole one of my bikes by cutting through the wheel itself instead of the lock (I sometimes use that rear triangle lock method). But I think i'll only be using this lock for shorter daytime lockups; for dirtier lockups I'll fall back on my older, more beefy, brand-that-starts-with-K.

Still going strong..
This U-lock, is pretty darn great. I've had this lock for almost a year now, and living in the city of angels, there are thefts of anything and everything all the time. My bike has not been touched, or from what I have inspected. I have left my bike in south central and deep into the not so good places in downtown, to the nice neighborhoods for countless hours daily and have returned every single time to my bike where I left it. This lock will not give anyone problems, if you know how to properly take care of it. As soon as I got it, I put some WD-40 into the key slot and where you slide the U lock into so it locks into place. Left it there for a day, worked like a charm every time after that. I usually repeat this process every month or so. I have also left this out in the rain, and it did not give me any problems after. This product was great for me since my Shimano road bike has quick release wheels. I used this lock on my back wheel and frame, and it fit perfectly with the bike rack, with about an inch and a half of room to spare. For the price, I would recommend this sturdy little lock.

If you are the administrator and would like to reinstate the service
Lock is jammed after 3 months of regular use. Lock shows no sign of tampering. I have tried several keys, it's not the keys. I tried to contact them using their website's Contact Us link, and this is what I got:"The service plan for this help desk account has expired. If you are the administrator and would like to reinstate the service, please visit [...] and contact us for additional information."Maybe I have bad luck AND bad timing, but for now I am without a lock after 3 months, hence the 1-star review.UPDATE 8/12 (2 weeks later):Ended up calling Todson, Inc (apparently they own OnGuard and Topeak, who knew?). I spoke with a nice lady named Ashley who hooked me up with a new lock. Good on them! I give this lock 4 stars because while I love the size and utility of it, I believe the lock mechanism is unreliable.

Still going after almost two years
I've had this lock since August 2014. I love the small size and reasonable weight, which allow me to carry the lock around without too much difficulty. I have two small gripes. One, the key light shorted after it got wet, so I had to take the battery out, leaving me without a light. Fortunately I haven't missed it. Two, the bracket to attach the lock to my bike is starting to crack, but that doesn't surprise me after commuting 5 days/week on crappy roads. The lock has been out in the rain while I'm at work and I haven't had the seizing up problem that others have had. Lucky me!I can fit the lock around my rear wheel, frame, and a thinner rack (1.5 inches or less). For thicker racks I lock the frame and use a chain to lock the wheels. Overall, I definitely recommend this lock for commuters in low-crime areas.

seems sturdy, but...
Awesome lock, love the size. fits into any bag, or even my gal's purse/sling bagwe didn't use the bicycle holster, but it looks and feels much more rigid than an EVO u lock holster - which flapped around endlessly.the one concerning thing is that apparently there's some cancerous product/ingredient in this Lock and they warn that it could cause birth defects... anyone know where to store this safely? cus it's just sitting by our bikes in the apartment.

Decent lock for the price!!
Its small enough on my bike it doesn't get in the way like a larger one. I use it with a 6 ft cable. It is a little noisy but I ride with headphones and honestly, what lock isn't. Seems sturdy enough if you ask me. I still have my bike (knock wood)

Calidad superior
