Dish Network Hopper Internet Connector

Our Hopper wasn't located next to any hard line network connections, and the wireless signal was pretty weak in the equipment cabinet, so I originally set up a Powerline device to feed the Internet through the power outlets, and while it worked most of the time, there were still times I noticed "On-Demand" movies downloading at ~3-6Mbps, which is strange considering we have a 60Mbps connection.I read about this device and figured it would work perfectly because one of the Joeys is right next to a network switch. It was a breeze to set up, but sadly it hasn't changed anything. There's still occasional times when movies just won't download at a reasonable speed. It's very annoying.I would recommend using one over a Powerline setup if you're getting everything setup for the first time and have a choice, but if you're in a situation like mine, don't bother. It's not going to make a difference.I also want to say how rediculus it is that this device even exists in the first place. All Joeys already have Ethernet ports built in. Why not just allow them to plug in if they happen to be near a router or switch, and totally avoid this extra piece of hardware??

This device provides internet for all Joeys and Hoppers on DishNetwork's Hopper system.It installs inline between the wall and a Joey/Hopper and distributes the network to all Joeys and Hoppers via the existing cable connections.It does require a network cable running between it and your network router, obviously.This works much better for me than the other options--running a network cable directly to the Hopper itself, installing a wireless access USB on the Hopper, or using the AC network to get the network to the Hopper. This gives a fast, stable connection that also allows the Joey's to use the few features that require network access (such as adding channels to your plans, DLNA, etc.). Just watching On Demand programming works either way, however.Note that if you request a Hopper Internet Connection during installation, its free and the installer will set it up. Not all installers seem to know about this yet, though--mine didn't and installed the wireless access--so if your hopper is already installed or your installer says he doesn't know what this is, ordering here is a reasonably inexpensive option.

Works very well, practically plug and play. It is a true bridge between ethernet and MoCa. You can use to connect your MoCa network to the internet or if MoCa is already connected to your network through the hopper, you can use this adapter to extend your home network through the existing coaxial cables. For example I have my hopper connected to the router and I use this adapter on the opposite side of the house connected to a wireless access point. The wireless access point is so connected to my router through the coaxial MoCa network. This is a great way to extend your wired home network using the existing coaxial cables. It works in combination with a hopper, I do not know if 2 or more of these adapters could be used "stand-alone" to just extend your network without using other dish equipment at all.

Can't get to work

I only had one hard wire Ethernet port by my TV and game consoles and that was being used for a PC that I use to stream directly to the TV. I wanted to get a Sling box and needed to get my Hopper on the network. I read about a few USB wireless connectors and they all seemed hit and miss as far as working. Discovered this and it has been perfect. I happened to have a Joey in my office right by my router so I just plugged it it and boom I had network connectivity throughout the Hopper subnet. Easy set up and has worked great.

Already had a Hopper/Joey system installed with a HIC. At Joey TV, we have a Roku that was struggling with our WIFI. This particular Roku model has an ethernet port. Bought second HIC to use in reverse, enabling me to hard wire the Roku. Now is solid as a rock.
