Excellent kit. Was able to repair a dry joint on a PCB in 2 minutes. Worth the purchase for that alone

Really great piece of kit, heats up quite fast and the stand and other pieces make it a treat to use. Very happy with this product and good value as well.

Single use
Used it once for a few minutes. It worked great.After a while I needed it again.Managed to do only half job. It stopped working out of the blue right in the middle of some work. Very annoying and frustrating.

Inexpensive, comprehensive soldering kit. Iron heats up rapidly but has safety and quality issues.
This soldering kit contains a soldering iron, spare tips, paste, tweezers, a stand and some solder. It comes in a cardboard box with no case or bag to hold the components, which is unfortunate.The stand is smaller than it should be and contains a dried sponge, but without instruction to add water. It will only help clean the iron if rehydrated and damp. The size of the stand is such that without care the iron will fall off it which is a clear safety risk. The solder in the kit contains lead which is no longer used commercially in the EU because of concerns about toxicity. Lead solder also is used at a different temperature to non-lead containing solders so bear this in mind when setting the iron temperature.The iron itself is a compact size and easy to handle. The iron arrived with the mains wires exposed at the bottom as shown in the photo. For a CE labelled device this is an unacceptable safety hazard. I opted to replace the wires by reconnecting the grommet as can be seen in later pictures. If it becomes detached again, as I suspect it will, the iron will be returned. The iron also has on off switch, a small temperature control and a mains light which are useful but it appears to be constructed in quite a flimsy way.Many smaller irons are low wattage to stop them getting too hot but this means they take some time to warm up. This iron has a different approach. It is a high wattage device, considering its size, and it limits the temperature with a temperature control which makes it very fast to heat up. I set the temperature to match the solder at about 380 degrees and found the iron easy to use on small soldering jobs.This kit is inexpensive but its components are not robust. It may suit someone who needs intermittent use of a fast soldering iron but it would not last long in a busy workshop. If you buy it make sure it is safe before and during use.
