I would actually give this game Four Stars, but am giving it five; I think its collective rating should be higher than The Lost Valley's.I've had this game for a few days now, and I am surprised by how much I enjoy it. I played both Story of Seasons and The Lost Valley. While I spent nearly every waking moment of my free time playing Story of Seasons, I strongly disliked TLV. When Skytree Village was first announced, I did not have high hopes for it. The trailers for it seemed too childish and family-friendly, like it was being marketed towards young children. Furthermore, I read some reviews prior to receiving my copy of the game, and many people have stated that it is, essentially, the same thing as TLV. As such, I went into this game with low expectations. However, I am happy to say that SV has far exceeded its predecessor in every way. Characters seem much, much more likeable and interesting (though sometimes their accents are borderline offensive), and the overall gameplay is much more fun. There is an actual village now, and you can upgrade your tools to work with multiple squares of land at once.Terraforming has returned, and for me, this has kept my busy making perfect staircases and smooth pathways. Though I'm not in love with terraforming, I do think that it is a neat little feature.Still, I can see why some people wouldn't like SV. This game is very centered around its storyline, and players must progress with the story (whether they want to or not) in order to unlock more features (such as the hammer; I still haven't gotten one). I'd compare this aspect to another Nintendo 3ds game, namely Fantasy Life. In Fantasy Life, you don't absolutely have to progress with the main storyline, but certain features and items are unavailable until you do. That being said, in SV, side requests given to you by the villagers are able to keep you busy while you wait to receive that one item needed for the main storyline. One of the biggest complaints that I've seen with SV is that there isn't enough to do. Before playing the game, I thought that I would have the same complaint. From all the playthroughs I've seen, there are really only three main areas: your house, the village, and the (initally) small farmland (but don't forget the Goddess Spring and the Mine). As mentioned before, I've been keeping myself busy by terraforming, fulfilling requests, and fishing (this is how I'm getting my cash right now). And (spoiler alert) through the main storyline quest, I've seen that players need to find the Harvest God in an area that I think needs to be unlocked first, so I think there is a new area to look forward to.I really do think that this game needs to be given a chance. Yes, I think the new Story of Seasons is going to be better in terms of gameplay, but Natsume has done well in the years between TLV and SV. I know that there are many who believe that Natsume should "give up" altogether when it comes to making new Harvest Moon games, but I think they're on the right track. If there's one thing that Natsume does well, it is listening to feedback. SV is practically built from the criticism that TLV received. I want Natsume to continue making new Harvest Moon games, as I think from SV, they can only get better.Edit: I've completed the story before my first in-game Fall was over.If you're looking for a meaningful relationship with a marriage candidate, I'd wait for Story of Seasons. SV is only a little better than TLV as far as romance goes. I married Cyril, and I only saw a few unimpressive events/scenes prior.Characters are constantly asking you to get things, things that become nearly impossible to find (as of now, there is no guide online to find specific items), and other items spawn only every few days.In my case, I've had a bit of trouble with the requests as far as bugs go. I've completed one of Melanie's requests, but she keeps asking me for the same request again and again no matter how many times I complete it.I hate to say it, but instead of the four stars that I would have given this game, I would now give it three. Possibly two. I still think it provides a great deal of entertainment, but for me, it got boring quickly, especially once the story was complete. You can only pursue a romantic interest once the game is complete, and romance events and scenes are minimal and shallow. The game feels incomplete, like Natsume didn't thoroughly do a trial run through the game to get rid of minor ticks and issues.

First, ignore the other reviews. There is quite a bit of strife within the so-called fandom over the whole Natsume/Marvelous split. People are so immature and bent out of shape over the whole thing that they try to slam Natsume at any chance they get.Skytree Village is the follow-up to the less than stellar Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley. A title that showed an absolute ton of promise, but was held back by so much that it was nearly a burden to play, and that was a total shame too because what Natsume has crafted in that game was a diamond just waiting for its chance to shine.Enter Skytree Village and we are finally getting to see Natsumes vision for the genre shine. Everything about this title, from the music to the graphics to the enhanced gameplay show that the team took most of the criticism from their last game to heart.- Tools are now way more useful this time around as they can be upgraded multiple times through repeated use, and thanks to the crop mutation systems and terraforming, upgrades come quickly.- Complaints about the graphics are where you see the dirty fanboys and girls crawl out of the woodwork. Making due with what power the 3DS offers, Natsume has put together some vibrantly colorful and animated characters that are full of personality and emote more than an SJW watching Married With Children. To say that former Harvest Moon series Story of Seasons has better graphics is just foolish. The artstyle may be different, but the fixed camera angle and in-game graphics in the MARVELOUS-XSEED titles are flat out ugly and void of any character at all. They could be doing so much more with the the games graphically as Natsume has shown with Skytree Village, and anyone that says otherwise are as wrong as all the people that voted Donald Trump into office.I have a few minor gripes with the title, admittedly. It is not without its flaws, the major one being the lack of gifts giving. The other being that blasted deafening cicada during the summer.Point is, don't listen to the other reviews. This game is so much better than The Lost Valley it is unreal and is definitely worth a try.

Cutee! c:
I love this game! It's so cute, there's absolutely so much to do. The graphics quality is nice for a 3DS game. I like the teraforming aspect of the game too. The characters are adorable, the animals are even more so.

The graphics are pretty bad, but that's whatever
This game is horrendous in comparison to every game by natsume/xseed. The graphics are pretty bad, but that's whatever. Other than the people, the world basically looks like minecraft. There's only three people to choose from (which I guess a wonderful life only had three too), and none of the three really have a "personality" regardless of what gender you pick. Having to build things with dirt like in minecraft really complicates things in a game like this, and the camera on this game makes things even more impossible. I was only able to stand it for an hour... which is a shame because I preordered it and was super excited for this game.WITH ALL THAT SAID, BUY TRIO OF TOWNS INSTEAD.

It can get repetitive, but it's still fun and interesting - I like the way you can landscape the fields and build lovely ponds and waterfalls. Still haven't unlocked any new outfits (other than the 2) but I am excited for that as well.
