I have a dice fetish. There; I said it. Without question, these strikingly beautiful dice are in the top three of this collector's all-time favorites. The amazing level of detail in craftsmanship, the weight, the feel, and the way they roll come together such that you simply want to sit these on a velvet pedestal in a spotlight for everyone to see.However, if you want to use them to play D&D, a deal-breaking problem quickly becomes apparent, most noticeably when rolling the D20. The font used especially for the numbers 0 and 2, but also for the 5, 6, and 9 have visible breaks in them such that the digit appears to be made up of separate "pieces" placed near each other. Because the fine detail of the gorgeous dragon behind each number can be seen through those breaks in the font, it makes figuring out what you rolled very difficult if it's made up of the above-mentioned digits. This is especially true for the D20 which has a lot of numbers to squeeze into a very small space. Depending upon the angle at which you are viewing the results of your roll, distinguishing between the following numbers, for example, is especially challenging: 10, 12, 15, 16, 18, 19It is difficult to recreate what the human eye perceives by using a camera, but hopefully the attached photos will be sufficient. While the other dice in the set do have this same problem, it is no where as pronounced as with the D20. But we all know the D20 is the one rolled the most.In summary, these are BEAUTIFUL and feel like absolute magic in your hands! But they aren't so kind to your eyes.
