Best Bang For The Buck
These rods are the best bang for the buck out there despite what the tackle shops tell you. If they can carry these rods and charge them higher than Walmart, the tackle shops would be filled with these rods.I've caught a lot of small sharks (15 to 80 lbs. ) with a 7 feet Ugly Stik Tiger casting rod rated for 15- 40 lb. mono. These sticks can really flex so you can get the bait out there behind the surf. They are a little heavier than the all graphite rods but they are more durable.I started out fishing about 25 years ago with these rods. Of course after getting on the cattle boats seeing other people with highter cost rods one would think that those are better because of cost. I upgraded to Calstar, Seeker, Shimano, Daiwa, and others. Over time I realized that the big names are not that much better, just bigger cost by a lot. At the end of the day, a fifty rod and a five hundred dollar rod would all lose to a car door.So in this case with the Ugly Stik Tiger , low cost does not mean it's junk . It's just that no one can beat what Walmart offers. I would highly recommend the Ugly Stik Tiger series and the GX2 .And for the guys with those Gucci rods and reels setup costing 500-$1,500 , I;m sure you've been on those trips where you looked great with that setup watching the guy with the Ugly Stik catching fish. :}

Great rod for the $!!!
I have all 3 Tiger casting rods and love the feel (fast tip, strong backbone), lightweight, and the value. My ML12-30lbs rod is 40+ years old and is my all-time favorite rod (paired with Newell converted Jigmaster Jr. and 20# test). FYI - the jigging rods are not similar, they feel like broomsticks.

Beefy rod
Didn’t expect to be this beefy. Thought it would be smaller. Diameter wise. Looks good.

I got them - time to fish
WoW fast shipping. It sure is ugly. The new eyelets are ugly but WoW nice no inserts at all 1 pc eyes. I like the Gimbal butt should make it EZ to pull in the BIG Blue Catfish I like to fish for.7' Length, 1pc Rod, 30-60 lb Line Rate, 1-8 oz Lure Rate, Medium/Heavy Power this is info off the rod.I put a PENN Squall 30 with 50# test braid on it. Nice looking and feels great. they pair up real well

chose the Ugly Stik Tiger over the ugly Stik big water
Ugly Stiks really fit where I am right now. After years of doing gear rentals to go out on a fishing boat I'm building up a quiver. These ugly stiks represents huge value for the money. I picked up a US big water at a brick and mortar but i just didn't fit what I wanted to do with it. The fishing pole eyelets between the two models are different. WHen the tiger model came in I knew I had what I wanted.In a few months there will be a fishing expos where the high end names will be present and I can look into put grading a pole or two to something closer to to shelf. MAybe not as these poles get the job done and I tend to lean on the side of practically rather than superficiality.I have a full quiver now and am planning an extended fishing trip this winter to where the tuna will be. I'll fly the ugly stiks and my reels over. I'd like to put a ful season on everything (most the reels are 2nd hand) before i decide to save the money on gear and book another trip or not.Those ugly stiks have a fantastic warranty. Best rod for the money at the that pricepoint. Even doubling the cost, I think US are still hard to beat. Once you get into the $250 region than there are brands that become available that are boutique /top shelf names that haven't watered down (pun intended) their brand name.Hope you all limit out soon, see you on the boat.

Rod tip and guides are GREAT!
Excellent rod without the high priced name painted on it. Good action for saltwater fishing down in Baja where it will be very busy this season. I wanted another Ugly Stick just like my original and I was happy to see this was it!The line guides are a new style of one piece stainless steel. My friend bought six "name brand" rods for his fishing business and all six lost at least one guide insert within the first few uses. The older style stainless and chrome plated guide where good but these new style one piece should take the torture. ( the rod arrived undamaged to a neighbor's house VERY poorly packaged, very poorly packaged )

Great rod for the price, it can't be beat!
Will be using for saltwater application as well as catfish in fresh water, maybe some pike and muskies if I ever take trips up north. I'll be going after medium to big game, even trying my luck for some small to medium sized sharks when i'm on the islands this March 17'. Definitely worth the money, rated for decent line and lure, but still has great flex compares to even my lighter rated rods. Will be paired with either a Daiwa SX50HV or a trusty fresh rebuilt Penn Special Senator 113H 4/0. Even tho it doesn't have SS seat railing, most big game reels like mine have clamps so not an issue. I like the fact it has ample space towards the top above the reel, helps provide great leverage. Overall can't wait till I take this baby out on the water.
