Very Pleased
Ordered on Monday afternoon, delivered Tuesday afternoon. Really excellent service. This router will mainly be used for my CNC Router. It will be replacing a Katsu Router that I have had for 18 months. It has had quite a bit of use & is showing ware & tear. In comparison with the Katsu it is so much better. They look very similar but the Makita is so much better. One of the big things is that the speed control is so very positive but best of all so much quieter. Really looking forward to using this router. Thank you Howe. Very happy.

Nice machine
As always Makita have never let me down, brilliant bit of kit, very easy to use.I bought this for jobs around the house, if I was looking for one to use out on site, I would go the extra mile and get one with a bigger base

Quality product
Only received router less than a day ago so have not been able to test it properly yet. But, first impressions are that it is well designed & built so, hopefully, will live up to expectations as do most Makita products.

Ah, love it. Pretty much.
I played with a couple of cheap knock offs before deciding to just bite the bullet and get this.Glad I did, it's so much better made. Nice and solid, bit of weight to make you think it's quality and a lightening fast motor given the size of it.Everything feels solid, no movement in the base, the rachet level works well, though some of the adjustments are a little fiddly to use.Only one part feels cheap and that's a small plastic screw at the back of the base. Tbh I can't figure out what it does other than feel cheap. The soft start motor isn't much of a soft start mind you, there's still a little bit of a kick and that surprised me, my other Makita tools with soft start handle initiation in a much gentle fashion. The motor kind of revs a little when you change speed, which I wasn't expecting, but it didn't seem to effect the cut. This comes with a dust extractor, cheap plastic, but it fits well and does the job as well as you'd expect... kind of.The straight guage is cheap, you'll need to replace that with something of a better quality sooner rather than later. Strangely enough Makita sell two much better ones... funny that.I bought mine with the plunge base, which is pretty great but remember that one doesn't come with a dust extractor, but guess what? Makita sells them as an add on!

Parts issue disappointment.
Advert and manual say it can use 6mm or 8mm bits. The 8mm collet supplied was a 10mm and would not hold 8mm bits. Asked seller (UK Planet Tools Ltd.) for correct size and he fobbed me off to Makita customer services. Makita responded that they only ever sold this as a 6mm tool and that supplier must have added the 8mm option so they only provided me with a part number to obtain a collet elsewhere. I have sourced one on Amazon for £9.50 which is pretty steep for a glorified spring washer and represents 12% of the total cost of the router! Not happy with the seller of this item but hopefully it will perform OK when I get the correct collet.
