Coopers of Stortford Manual Garden Step Lawn Edger L122cm

I needed an edger to trim the lawn where it abuts paving slabs and tends to spread over those slabs. I found that the traditional half-moon edger was awkward to use - the handle too short, the blade uncomfortable to step on, and the need to move crabwise all the time - although it seems to have provided valuable exercise, judging by the number of muscles that ached afterwards. This device cuts quickly and cleanly (even when the turf is wet) and is much easier to use, with no aches and pains afterwards. It appears well made (in Taiwan, not the other place) and nicely finished. Putting it together is a bit fiddly and would be much easier if the bolts were just a couple of millimetres longer - starting the nuts was problematic. Care is needed as the blade is lethally sharp. It would be good if a clip-on plastic cover was provided, both for safety when assembling and to preserve the edge of the blade when stored.

The cutting needs a lot of care, my first purchase was some locking nuts to replace the original simple nuts The cutter worked well and I think I will be able to keep straight lines after a little practice.I have kept the cardboard shield on the blade for storage.

Very good with the foot plate making it easy to use as you just use body weight to push down and the blade follows the edge of the path very easily.

This was bought because the moon-shaped cutters didn’t give a clean cut on our grass edges. This was easy to assemble and looks strong but it has yet to outperform the standard edging tools as I’d hoped the extra weight applied might make it. Maybe it will come good,

The unit is lightweight.. Sturdy... And does what it says.. I bought this to try it out. To Cut a fine line around the lawn for a perimeter wire for a robotic lawnmower.. And what a job it does... Brilliant for this.. Without the effort of using a spade... And very neat fine cut line in the lawn.. Thank you very much... Saved hours of work...

Didn’t, like this much and have not used it at all after trying it out once.

Good value and does what it says on the tin

Excellent product for the price, a couple of caveats before buying, however.1). The bolts WILL work loose at the front pivot point. A drop of Loctite thread-seal will sort this.2). the handle is 2 piece, with the centre join a simple "Ball bearing goes in hole" type forund on tents/ fold up gazeebo's etc. after medium to heavy use this gets wobbly.3). handle could be a little longer perhaps, seems designed for shorter people, I'm only 5'6" and was gripping the very top of the handle.All in all, for the price, an excellent bit of kit that needs Minor tweaks to make it heavy duty.
