I'm a big fan of Air King. Yes, they cost more. They cost 2x what a cheaper fan will cost but when you consider that an Air King fan will outlast 4 cheap fans it is a no-brainer. This fan is built like an absolute tank and yes, it is heavy. This fan has a 1/6 HP motor and it is also much quieter than a cheaper fan. The reason it is quieter is the blades can have a greater pitch due to the strength of the motor so they do not need to spin as fast to move a high volume of air. Cheaper fans run lower HP motors that rely on higher blade speed that burns out the cheap motors faster and causes them to be 2x as loud as one of these Air Kings. Remember, these Air King fans are designed for continuous use on any speed setting. People place them in horse stables, crank them up to high and let them run 24/7 for years. When they get filthy enough you cut the power to them, blast them off with a hose, let them dry and plug them back in again.

I have a smaller air king fan that has lasted for 10 years and continues to run great. these fans are very well built and will last. just purchased the 20 inch air king. 5 star rating all the way!

Somewhat disappointed
Ordered this fan as a replacement for a 10 year old equivalent. It starts out quiet, but eventually keeps gaining RPM while getting louder as it continues. I use high speed first, and after about 20 seconds turn it to low speed. It takes about 5 minutes for it to reach full speed once on low. Once full low speed is obtained the fan will the start to slowly move about on a smoother flooring surface. High speed and it walks at a decent rate. Not disappointed enough to get a return as it does move more air than my same sized old fan built in much the same manner, but does have a few issues.

Excellent quality and performance
The fan is in line with all the reviews I read before I purchased. Great string blowing action good white noise. On low ok to have in room watching TV.
