The Elements of Thinking in Systems: Use Systems Archetypes to Understand, Manage, and Fix Complex Problems and Make Smarter Decisions

Not recommended
Not recommended. The author appears to know almost nothing about Systems Thinking. His examples and diagrams are simply copied from other books. There is not one complex non-linear system in the whole book. The book has not benefitted from an editor and parts have not even been run through a spell checker. All in all this is a poorly structured, poorly conceived book that does not live up to the grandiose claims of the author. Systems Thinking requires a clarity of thinking that this author appears not to possess. Read Donella Meadows, John Seddon, Sidney Dekker or Peter Senge if you want to know about Systems Thinking. I believe this book makes less contribution to the subject than Little House on the Prairie.

A good introduction to the field of study
I was not sure exactly what his purpose was in writing this book. He briefly covers the major ideas in Systems Thinking and does cite samples of additional material in this field. However, his diagrams were a little confusing and did not follow the construction sequences I was taught when taking some graduate courses in this field. For someone who is not familiar with Systems Thinking ideas, it does cover most of the field in a rather brief style with limited detail.
