Five star price for a four star item
This item arrived initially and was faulty. It started alright, but would not run on after about 10minutes. I contacted the supplier, MicroMantis, who despatched a replacement straight away ahead of collecting the original faulty machine; excellent customer service from Rik in particular.Machine 2 arrived and out of the box it started with ease and ran on to help me cut a significant mixed hedge; mainly beech, but some privet. It coped with branches of 1cm thickness well and thanks to the fact that you can turn the handle to suit the angle that you require, you can obtain the best and most ergonomic grip. It is at this stage where I must say that you need to grip this trimmer correctly! It is a monster, it really gives you an upper body workout and only the strong and able should consider purchasing it. Common sense dictates that an item of this size, with 24" blades will be heavy and cumbersome and it is. I am reasonably fit and I was not surprised to ache a bit after using it for nearly three hours. During that time I used up almost 2 litres of fuel (so it is economical) and i experienced no problems starting this one with the engine hot or cold. It stalled a couple of times when I met a branch at too slow a speed, but I felt it would cut through the majority of my very mature hedge. So why 4 stars and not 5 stars? Well at the price you cannot expect fantastic quality and you don't get it. The item looks fairly robust, but I have concerns about the assembly with the wiring not looking too good. Similarly the air filter is a simple piece of foam and the fuel/mixing bottle should be used just for that, as storage of fuel I would not recommend in a thin plastic bottle with a cap which does not completely seal. The supplied tool set is basic quality, but adequate for the price and allowed me to take the plug out of the original item and remove screws to examine the air filter - not all manufacturers supply a tool kit so another positive. What I would say is that it cut my hedge fine, even allowing for the weight. It should last a few years and I am pleased that I purchased it as it is adequate for my needs. If you are expecting something other than a fairly cheap construction you might wish to look elsewhere and pay a bit more, certainly if you are looking for a workout this is the item for you. Servicing should be easy too and the only thing that you need to consider is obtaining a grease gun to lubricate the drive mechanism.Ideal for the gardener who like me has a lot of hedge and not a lot of money.

My first thoughts were how can a 24" petrol hedge trimmer sub £100 be any good!! Given the use I'll give it I thought I'd give it a try. Far better than paying £300-400 on a Stihl, Tanaka etc.I used it the first time over the weekend and I was VERY impressed, OK it's heavy but most are. The biggest amazing fact is it is Soooo easy to start, if you remember to switch the the kill switch off, it starts first pull, and I mean first pull, even from cold, hot, any time, first pull!! I have a NEW Hasqvana chainsaw, with easy start and that is a right b*gg*er to start. The rotating handle is a great feature, although you do need a full tank of fuel to use it on one of the sides as the fuel pipe goes to the bottom of the fuel tank, which is then at the top!I used it for 4 hours, taking breaks, and certainly felt it for the next few days, but we did mange to reduce the height of a very thick and deep hedge to the lowest we have ever managed in 4 years of trimming it. It will be a lot easier to trim next time due to the new hedgetrimmer. Other than weight, my only complaint is the fuel mixing bottle, you need a degree to understand it. Just buy another one with clear calibrations on it!

Consistent Starter but Heavy
This was bought on behalf of a friend. He has owned two or three two-stroke hedge trimmers previously but after throwing good money after bad in trying to get them repaired he decided to get a new machine. The fact that the Timberpro is half the price of well known makes that don't exactly get glowing reviews made it worth a try.The Pros - the price.- spare parts appear to be available should the need arise.- it starts consistently on the third pull of the cord. The Cons- it is heavy. This guy is fit - he carried a very heavy and bulky air conditioner upstairs for me in a bear hug and without putting it down to rest once. He says that when cutting a large hedge, he really feels 'the burn'.- the engine exhaust exits out towards the blade which he finds is causing him to breathe in some of the gases. His previous machines all vented the exhaust below the engine.- he hasn't carried out any precise measuring but he thinks it might be using slightly more fuel that his previous machines. All in all it is a good budget hedge trimmer but not for weaklings.

Very easy to start trimmer
Just spent several hours cutting a tall leylandi hedge. Very easy to start trimmer, fired up on the third pull , did a great job of my hedge. Switched off and on several times, no problems in restarting.Only reason it gets 4 starts is the weight - as with all petrol hedge trimmers it is on the heavy side BUT the fact that it is so reliable and does the job makes it a highly recommended purchase. Instruction booklet also not as clear as it should be , obviously translated into English from another language ( German ? ), but I was still able to work out how to get it running.Worth every penny !!

Very good after initial problem.
The rope pull cord at the first attempt slipped through the plastic handle to grab it and the rope coiled back into the machine. There are no instructions how to replace the starter cord in order for me to work out how to fix it.Fortunately I worked it out but it was very tricky as tacking the casing off was easy but putting it back took some outside the box thinking. That said it works very well now and starts easily , cuts very well and I have no complaints and would recommend it for the money.Good job.
