Lots of unusual facts
Great general book about swamp life. However the wrting stile is a little dry and technical. When you are talking about swamps and widlife, there has to be some entertainment value and not a biology project!!!!

Professor knows her swamp
Yes I am biased, because I read this book as part of the author's course at Florida International University, but that doesn't mean that I'm lying. The book will be appreciated mainly by anthropologists and other academic types who can trace the theory behind the narrative. Even non-academics who love the Everglades will find some compelling history of the area, and people who love alligators will want to know about the extent of their abuse before protection as an endangered species. For the full story, however, you'll have to take the class.

Very interesting read, especially if you're into political ecology and cultural studies. Quick and engaging!
