Q2200 Amazing Little Grill, 9/10!
Purchased the Q2200. Awesome little grill! Cannot believe I have waited so long to get one! Have had it for 2 months now and have been using it all the time. Beef, chicken, pork, lamb, mmm mmm so delicious! So good that it prompted me to write my first review on Amazon. I have used many grills before, from large high end installations to those public beach grills where you bring your own charcoal. Now I am not saying this grill can do it all, but if you are short on space you should definitely consider this grill. I live in an apartment where the provided grills are not great quality nor maintained well, and this little bbq has been a life savior. I use mine with a 20 lb propane tank. Pros: portability, size, efficiency (gets hot quick, does not use too much gas), easy to clean, even heat distribution. Cons: single burner limits style of cooking (I like to cook my chicken with indirect heat, which is hard to do with this grill), lowest setting is still fairly hot, more expensive than other portable grills (although worth it, its a Weber!) Overall 9/10, there are some small things I can nit-pick about, like how it there is no stainless steel grate option (comes with porcelain coated cast iron, which I am not complaining about at all!). Even on the lowest setting, it can be a bit hot for slow-roasting. It does steaks extremely well (probably my favorite regular thing I cook using this grill), I recently cooked rack of lamb and it came out delicious (although this is where I would prefer more control for low heat cooking). I was considering the Q1000/1200 but I often cook for 4-6 people, and I am glad I went with the Q2200 because it allows me to do just that. A friend has the Q1000 and while it is perfect for 1-2 people, the grill area is limiting. Great job Weber, very satisfied!

Excellent compact gas grill
This is a very nice, compact, gas (propane) grill that we've just purchased for use on our apartment balcony (charcoal grills being prohibited for use there, understandably). It does require some basic assembly which is straightforward and not difficult. The grill is moderately heavy due mostly to the cast iron cooking grates which were one of the main reasons for our selecting this particular grill for purchase. The lid and body of the grill are cast-aluminum, much lighter in weight and hopefully durable over time. The two side tables fold inward and fit under the cover to reduce the footprint of the grill when not in use. It fires up immediately - initially we are using one of the small 16.4 oz LP cylinders that attach directly to the grill (smaller 14.1 oz size also fits). I also purchased the adaptor hose so that we can use larger refillable propane tanks. We purchased this along with the following accessories: - Weber 6557 Q Portable Cart for Grilling - Weber 6415 Small 7-1/2-Inch-by-5-inch Aluminum Drip Pans, Set of 10 - Weber 6501 Adapter Hose for Weber Q-Series and Gas Go-Anywhere Grills, 6-Feet - Weber 6552 Premium Grill Cover, Fits Weber Q, Q-200, and Q-220 with Cart It's a fine setup, suitable for the back patio but also portable and lightweight enough to put in the back of the pickup or SUV and use when camping or fishing or at tailgate parties. Weber has a couple of grills with similar styling. This is the medium size model, and we selected this because of the larger grilling surface while still maintaining good portability. We first saw this grill at the local Home Depot. I found several advantages to purchasing here on Amazon (prices were the same) - there are several color choices available here, and there is a more complete selection of the different sizes that Weber offers. Very satisfied with this grill, and if we find any other points worth mentioning here as we use it over time, I will return and update this review accordingly.

Reluctant then Very Happy
Here's all you need to know. This 2200 series Q is BIG enough to cook for a very large family or gathering. I typically grill 8 1/4 pound burgers at a time, and there is room for 8 more on this little big guy. I put it together in 3 minutes in my kitchen then moved it outside. + It gets hot like over 500 in less than 10 minutes on a good day. If its windy like typhoon windy it won't go over 450. Buts tthat's ok for grilling purposes. + It's technically portable which is a nice bonus. I didn't get the cart yet but will eventually. It sits on my Tubster cart I use for BBQ prep for now. It's a little heavy from the actual grill gates insides so a cart is helpful if you're gonna be toting this guy around. + I was looking the Napoleon portable which just looks nicer but glad I didn't because the flip side tables are genius. + I've used little propane tanks and paid 10 beans for a generic 20 lb tank adaptor - totally worth it. I'll keep one little propane tank in case I ever do go somewhere or run out - it's there as a back up till I get a refill. + I am not worried about rust whereas I really wanted the Spirit 310, but glad I didn't because of all the steel it has. This Q has no steel exposed. I even bought the little cover which is a b-i-t-c-to the H to put on and I always forget to put it back on - that I don't recommend getting it.

A great portable grill with virtually no flaws.
A solid Weber product that was purchased as the primary cooking tool for our new RV. Putting the product together is a snap. The shelves are already attached, you pretty much just attach the handle and the thermometer, and stick the grates in the grill. It is a single burner grill that is well placed in the housing to allow for even cooking anywhere on the grates. The electric start is quick and the single heat control knob is accurate and secure. I purchased the adapter hose to be able to use a 20 lb. tank of propane and have a couple of the 1 lb. canisters in the event of an unexpected main-tank shortage. Cooking performance, for such a small grill, is exceptional. Its get up to about 300 degrees very quickly, and takes a bit longer to get up to 500-550. But, a 10-15 preheat period will get you there. I cook Costco chicken breasts for about 15 minutes on high and they come out perfectly juicy with a slight crispiness on the edges, which is how my wife likes them. A word of caution, don't dilly-dally when you are flipping your food, since the housing is aluminum instead of cast iron to save weight, it doesn't retain heat as well as a full-size Weber product - one of the trade-offs for a portable grill and not something you can really ding. Flip it quick and shut the grill. I like diamond-pattern grill marks, so I rotate chicken at about 3 or so minutes and flip at about 7 minutes. Once I have started cooking, the temperature still stays between 400-500 even with multiple lid-ups to flip/rotate. One thing I would have liked to see would be built-in slots to hang grilling tools on the shelves. Speaking of the shelves, they are strong enough to handle any amount of food that you are going to grill. I have read some reviews that state the shelves are wobbly and not strong. Are you grilling bricks or barbells? I have had a big plate of chicken on one shelf and flat of Costco steaks on the other. Nope, you can't stand on the shelves but they perform well for all reasonable people. I am very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone who needs a portable grill or does not have room on their patio for a full-sized Weber gas grill.

Happy Weber Q2200 propane grill customer
This is my 4th Weber grill purchase ranging from a charcoal unit, a natural gas patio Genesis Silver, and 2 propane portable Q series units. My wife and I have been traveling full-time in our 40-foot 5th Wheel RV for over 6 years now and have used first a Baby Q (Q100) and now the Q2200, with a Cuisinart CGG-200 All-Foods 12,000-BTU Portable Outdoor Tabletop Propane Gas Grill in between the two Q units. I operated all three of the portable units using a 20# propane tank and flexible hose connection, except for a few times with the screw on disposable cylinders. I have had no real "issues" with any of the units, however, became somewhat dissatisfied after a couple of years with the btu output on the Q100 at which time I switched to the Cuisinart grill. In retrospect, I suspect now that a dirty or partially plugged burner could have been the reason for the low heat output and subsequent upgrade. The Cuisinart unit performed better overall, as would be expected when comparing an 8,500 btu unit to a 12,000 btu one. My only complaint with the Cuisinart was that it required us to remove the attached stand/legs section to enable it to fit in the convenient Weber canvas rolling duffle bag (additional purchase) we retained from the Q100 unit. I decided to go back to a Weber Q unit (wanting to reuse the canvas rolling duffle bag) but also wanting to get a higher btu model from our original Q100. We ended up with the Q2200 grill which has the 12,000 btu output I wanted and a larger grill surface, however, physical size is larger, as suspected, and would not quite fit into the duffle pad as I had hoped. We have only used this new unit a couple months now and so far have been pleased with the performance. We also purchased the collapsible rolling grill stand (separate review) and the vinyl grill cover along with this new grill and been happy with these also.

A very nice grill, perfect for small yards or patios. Amazing warranty.
Four year update: Grill is still going strong and still love it. I recently had one of the grates chip and rust slightly. It was still useable, but I contacted Weber anyway and they informed me the grates are warrantied for 5 years and sent me a whole new set within three days. Fantastic grill and a fantastic company that stands by their products and their customers. I really like this grill overall. It has heavy cast iron grates that hold a lot of heat and clean easily. The electric ignition lights every time and the food that comes off it is wonderful. A few downsides: 1) Sometimes a single hole on the burner gets clogged and the burner only lights as far as that hole. If you turn it off and try again it usually will light. If not, push a cocktail stick in that hole to clear it. 2) It does not come with an adapter for a full-sized propane bottle so you need to buy that extra 3) It does not come with a stand, so you might need to pay extra for that 4) It does not come with a cover so you need to buy one - see now your inexpensive grill ain't so cheap after all :) 5) The fold out shelves while very useful, are not very strong where they attach so don't lean anything heavy on them.

What a great grill!
I grill a lot on a screened-in porch all year round. We've been through a few electric grills that cooked the food pretty well but they just don't last. I wanted to switch to propane and had cooked on a lot of grills that belonged to friends and family, so I understood that Weber quality is second to none. I really like the looks and features of the Q2200 and the option of portability as well as connecting the grill to a 20 lb tank. The 20 lb. tank works great as long as you open the tank valve a little slowly so the regulator doesn't restrict gas flow. The Q2200 heats and cooks flawlessly with even temperature all around the cooking surface. The temperature control holds very accurately, too. I really like the cast iron grill surface with the ceramic coating. I brush or smear a little cooking oil on it before heating up and then clean up with a Weber stainless steel bristle brush as soon as I finish cooking. It cleans up quickly when the grill is still hot. I wash the grill grates in the sink after cooking about ten times. The Q2200 cleans up easily and cooks as well as any Weber grill I've used, which sets the bar pretty high.

This is the Best Grill that I have Ever Owned
I read a lot of reviews of portable grills. I was leaning towards one other major brand (Cuisinart) but a number of reviewers commented on the poor quality of the hinges. After getting this grill (even though the shape seems funny) I am glad that I chose this one. It is assembled except for the cover handle and the cover hinge pins. It took less than 5 minutes to assemble and needed only a #2 Phillips screwdriver. The hinge for the cover is on the exterior of the grill. The hinge holes are part of the top and bottom so you never have to worry about them rusting. The hinge pin is a standard locking pin and could be found at any hardware store and so if they ever have to be replaced it would be very easy. So far I have used it 3 times for dinner in the first 3 days. I cannot understand why some reviewers said it does not heat well. The first day it was 100deg outside and with the burner turned up high it got to 530 degrees in 5 minutes. That was impressive but then the second day it was 80deg and rainy with no wind. I stepped away from the grill for 10 minutes while preparing the food and when I came back the temperature was 600 degrees. Obviously too hot to cook on but it is nice to know that as long as the top is closed it stays hot. And so on those days when the temperature gets low (by Texas standards) it should still stay hot enough to cook on. If it gets too cold outside then I will just move to the garage (door open some of course). Sub-zero temperatures will always be a challenge. The last time that I tried to use a charcoal grill in those temperatures I could not get the grill hot enough to even cook the outside of some thin-strip steaks. With the grills inside it is a little heavy, but fortunately the grills do easily come out for cleaning/moving around. I have a rear carrier on my jeep that I plan on using with the grill for ultimate tail-gating. I plan on ordering one of the heavy cast iron grilling pans that can be placed inside the grill. I stir fried tonight with a regular stove top pan and it worked ok but since the gas does not directly contact it I think that having a heavy cast iron pan will increase the efficiency of cooking vegetables in a pan. Using pans will also cut down on some of the cleanup of the grill. The best thing about this grill is that my family has shifted over to lean chicken/beef/etc. and vegetables every evening for dinner. I am sure that I will see some health benefits. I do not anticipate that I will get tired of using this grill; it is such a pleasure to cook with it that my kids are looking at recipes every day to find plenty of variety.

quality BBQ
This grill is perfect for a small family. There is plenty of grill area. The temperature easily gets to 550 for searing. The grills are heavy cast iron and will last far longer than the thin wire type. I replaced a low price BBQ that did not last more than 3 years before it rusted out. The quality of this BBQ suggest to me it will last considerably longer. I bought the adapter hose so I can use 20 lb propane bottles. I have the BBQ on a screened in part of my deck and I will likely use it all winter. I do not take the BBQ on trips and cannot comment on portability.

Weber BBQ 1st Class
This is my 3rd weber BBQ over 10+ years. . I still own all of them in great working order: Genesis 11E -410 , Q120 and now the Q2200. The Q2200 is like the others, even heat, easy to clean , quality components . The thing I appreciate most are the porcelain enamel cast iron grates. Registering your BBQ with Weber makes replacement parts an easy ordering process for future needs. I highly recommend Weber if you're in the market for a reasonably priced well built product.
