King of Battle and Blood

I enjoyed reading this book. It was my first book into adult fantasy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a villain get the girl (and villain is a good person) type of story - it liked the characters and it is a light read.

I really wanted to like the plot of the story but it went downhill. The characters, I only liked Adrian’s portrayal but tbh it’s more like an erotica. There were a lot of times that the writing didn’t make me feel connected to the story. There was no chemistry between the leads. They were horny most of the time in the book and no emotional connect. The character development was weak. I was expecting more of the war scenes and more fighting and action.

It’s been so long since I have read any book solely based on vampires & humans and when my friends couldn’t stop gushing about this one, I just caved in and read the book. I must tell you I’m not disappointed at all, with its crazy trope of enemies to lovers, it’s already one of my top reads of this year.After a long time, I came across such a handsome and devastatingly morally grey character i.e Blood King, Adrian. I’m already in love with him and his name. He’s the first vampire created in the history of humans and has totally earned his name, Blood King, in the span of two hundred years.Our Princess, Isolde is a fierce and spicy one who has grace and all the qualities a warrior has. She’s strong-headed and a believer of the past stories passed on from generations, which I tell you is based on the perception of the people who tells the story. Past is all about the perception of individuals.The story is written perfectly with incredible world-building. It’s explained so flawlessly that you’ll not second guess anything. With the story moving forward you can see a few things coming but when they strike, you will still be astonished in a way.

I loved the overall story arc.. and the universe set up.. its amazing, It reminded me or witcher(which was good), it is a very a good start to what I think would be a great book series and a potential for more.. the only problem I had was Isolde's thoughts were all over the place sometimes(not always) which made me difficult to see her point...she is an adult but she acted like YA, she is no doubt a bada** person! I cant wait to see more of Isolde as yesenia.. I think this would explain why Isolde was conflicted in the next books... Adrian is everything!!! and ana, sorin, lothian.. I would love to see more or them...Looking forward to more of Adrian and Isolde!

I totalllly loved it. I have no idea why people give it mixed or negative reviews about the pacing. The story is amazing. With lots of twists and give you clues to think and ponder like any good book should.I think the story speed was totally okay, it could have been a bit slow in the end but it’s completely fine the way it actually is.I loved Isolde and I’m totally ready to do whatever Adrian asks of me! Can’t wait for Queen Of Myth And Monsters!!!!

*Forced marriage*Enemies to lovers*Vampires*Witches*FantasyLook at all the above tropes and tell me your expectation.Well, I did expect too, way something different from what I got.NOW, if you are gonna read this as pure fun, then, of course, King Of Battle and Blood is just the book you need to satisfy all your erotic longings. So just a heads up, this story reads like erotica with just a bit of this and that to fill up the plot. And I sincerely hope that the story has something much more exciting waiting to happen in the series.Adrian is the Vampire King, forcing the marriage of Isolde who vows to protect her kingdom by hook or crook. I wish the author had developed the fantasy world on a larger scale than given as the imagery didn’t fully form in my mind, the layout of the town or the absence of the sun in the vampire kingdom never gave a complete picture. The fantasy realm takes a back seat to the evolving relationship between the leads, and, if you ask me if the romance had its wonderful moments, even that would be questionable coz again I kept wishing for a detailed talking or opening up between them instead of just the lust-filled desire pouring forth thru the pages. Not that I’m complaining about that but all the other political shenanigans and the story of the centuries-old war of witches and the previous King pales in comparison and the twisty surprise is easy to guess for most readers.Isolde is characterized in a very harsh and cruel light, as a Queen, she more or less displays her power but it is sometimes the evident ruthlessness that called for a subtle toning down of her fire coz as a reader I was happy with her warrior powers but not too happy about her unkind nature. Though, sigh, Adrian was just freaking awesome…Neither a saint nor a devil but hanging in there with a tight balance, there are one or two instances in the story, where he exudes such raw intensity, that it was blistering in effect.I am going with 3.5 stars coz Book #1 King Of Battle and Blood in Adrian X Isolde series was entertaining and I would love to know how the author takes the story forward.

Well, this book wasn't for me. 🙄Now, I might sound mean, but there was nothing redeemable about this book. I hated every second of it. The insta love. The trashy sex scenes every two chapers. Adrian (aka mister boring). Isolde (aka whiney queen). The ending. There were also some scenes that happened so fast we didn't get to see how the characters reacted. Also, the "plot twist" at the end was predictable. I called it the first time Adrian said this thing about the stars (very Rhysandish if you must know).The only highlights were Sorin and the interesting approach to the vampire society.But other than that, it was vampire porn, plain and simple. No world building. No plot. Not even enjoyable characters. Finishing this book was a pain and took everything out of me. I'm never reading another book from this author. This is all your fault, tiktok 😭Still, a lot of people read it and cherished the story. If you give this one a try, I hope you'll love it !

If you love vampire love stories, this is worth reading. I loved certain aspects of the book such as:-FMC can wield knives, swords + daggers + can fight.-MMC is a broody vampire king who is also gallant with an interesting past.-the concept of vassal + vampire relationships + consent.-steamThe only complaints I had about the book was that the enemies to lovers dragged on + it was to the point of annoying at times. The concept of reincarnation was a huge plot in the story + honestly could have been further developed as it added so many interesting elements yet when it got that point, it became anti-climatic. And I guess for me, this is just a personal thing but I'm tired of reading about strong FMC's that are reactive. I found her to be reactive rather than strategic most of the time, and only a few times did she actually start to show what she was capable of.Overall still a good story if you love an enemies to lovers vampire romance

Nachdem ich die ATOD bei ihr gelesen habe wollte ich unbedingt ihr neustes Buch lesen und war ermutigt davon das es um Enemies to Lovers geht. Wir folgen hier die Sicht von Isolde die denn König der Vampire Heiraten muss. Der Schreibstil war vertraut und hier sogar noch anziehend als bei ihrem anderen Buch wo ich gelesen habe. Isolde ist in interessanter Charakter da ich mir sie anderes vorgestellt habe und durchaus zugeben muss das ich ihr Verhalten manchmal nicht nachvollziehen kann und kein Fan immer gewesen bin in gewissen Situationen. Dennoch ist sie im laufe des Buches an mir gewachsen besonders die Momente wo sie endlich eingesteht das es manchmal nicht alles ist wie es scheint. Adriann dagegen hat mich auf eine komische weise Fasziniert da er ziemlich Rätselhaft rüber kam und ich unbedingt wissen wollte was er immer damit meint und besonders was durch seinen Kopf geht hätte ich gerne gewusst. Ich muss sagen ich hab was anderes erwartet von diesem Buch und auch irgendwie nicht. Zwar ging die Liebesgeschichte ziemlich schnell voran das ich mich gewundert habe aber ich muss auch zugeben das es mich hier nicht gestört hat und ich gar nicht mehr aufhören konnte es zu lesen da ich unbedingt wissen wollte wie es weiter geht. Im ganzen war ich überrascht und kann sagen das dieses Buch zwar etwas zu schnell ging was die Liebesgeschichte betrifft aber dennoch man sich nicht entziehen kann da diese Welt und auch die Liebesgeschichte einen irgendwie Fasziniert ist. Für denn Anfang war es okay und ich bin gespannt was mich noch erwartet.

I just… wow. This book is so good, words don’t seem to do is justice by trying to describe how good it is. Isolde is fr a bad ass. She is fierce, smart and shows raw and real emotions. It is often the case in other books that the protagonist is also courageous but does not communicate enough what to think about certain topics and thus unnecessary drama builds up between the people concerned. LET ME TELLLLL UUUU: BUT not in this book!!! She says what she thinks, she's smart and knows how to run a conversation. Wow wow wow and then the spiceeee. It's so incredibly well written. With every page I devoured and inhaled while reading, I hoped the book would never end. I read the book through in one night and am eagerly awaiting the next one. It is truly a masterpiece and better than any smj book I have read and again! the spice abnormally good but not to much, very well balanced! READ THE BOOK AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABOUT IT SOOO THEY MAY DO THE SAMEEEE HAHAHA ITS REALLYYY THAT GOOD

I love it, from the construction of the story to developement of each of the characters. The story id wonderful, I couldn’t stop reading it since I started it. Isolde is a strong and amazing female character. Adrian is just awesome, I love bis character. Looking foward to reading more about them and knowing more about the other characters. The action is very good, the romance is beautiful and the spice is very spicy.
