BG Electrical 822/HC-01 Smart Power Socket, Alexa Compatible Double 13 Amp, White Moulded & WP22-01 Double Weatherproof Outdoor Switched Power Socket, IP66 Rated, 13 Amp, Grey

The quality was very good, the plug socket that it came with was of a good grade but I wanted to swap it out with a BG Wifi Socket instead. Needed some minor modification to the case (the depth supports inside) to fit the WIFI socket as it is deeper than the standard socket. A few trims with the stanley knife and it fitted a treat. No water ingress even in the latest stormy weather.

Bought this with the smart socket option.Hadn’t realised that the smart socket came separately.Not normally a problem as both items were BG .However for some reason the facia if the Smart socket is 2-3 mm bigger than the original fitted socket so I’ve had to file some of the retaining tabs off with a Dremel.Just fits but a but tight without filing into the lid retaining pillars.So beware of this when ordering.BG Electrical 822/HC-01 Smart Power Socket was the original order . Does say bundled and when checked again it does show it separate . Still shouldn’t have been an issue. As I can’t see BG making a smart socket separately to fit in their weatherproof boxes.

I bought this to replace a knightsbridge outside socket, which failed... infact I had 2 and they both failed within a week so I swapped to this BG.My intention was to remove the conventional socket from the weather proof box and replace with the wifi one. (BG do seem to list an outdoor wifi socket, but it's out of stock everywhere).Sadly, the curved fascia of the wifi socket is evers slightly larger (about 2mm) than the standard square fascia on the socket in the weatherproof box.I had to 'modify' the weather proof box (I carefully thinned out the plastic supports which centre the socket in the box).However, once that was done and the wifi socket screwed in place, it works a treat.wifi signal strength is excellent.I've been using it on a timer with one socket powering some outdoor lights and heaters, the other powering a small fountain pump.will purchase again, but I had to take a 'star' away for the modification needed to fit properly.

Disappointingly, this is bundled with the incorrect enclosure for the BG Smart socket (822 slim profile - the one with the rounded edges). The enclosure in the bundle turned out to be a BG WP22, which is meant for their ordinary 2 gang double socket, also series 822. Another reviewer didn’t think that BG would make a different enclosure for their Smart socket, but unbelievably they do. It is the WP22/HC. This is because the Smart socket faceplate is wider, taller and thicker than the faceplate of their normal switched socket. In short, don’t buy this bundle.

Works as a socket but it will not collect to our network, does not say that it will only run on 2.4hz, our network does both but it will not connect.I'm tech savvy but this is an issue.Gave up in the end.

Looking at the ad it looks like the smart socket fits in the weatherproof box but it doesn’t without butchering the back box.The outdoor socket comes with a standard socket in so you have take it out and fit the smart socket which as I said doesn’t fit out of the box.

The main issue I had is that the power socket provided doesn't fix without cutting the weatherproof box.I gave up in the end.

Not what I expected. Thought I was buying an outdoor smart socket. Product was outside socket plus a smart socket. The smart socket did not fit in water proof casing
