I bought this as a very, very early birthday gift for someone that likes clean edges. And sure enough, it cuts deeply and cleanly. It's sturdy, but not too heavy (though you wouldn't want to use it the entire day I think). I don't use it as I'm generally too lazy to edge things, but she makes it look quite easy. It cuts an inch or so more deep, so be careful if you concrete extending out under the ground from the edge. It'll kick up a stone, so watch the feet and ankles (don't wear sandals when you're using it). All in all, a very nice tool. Get the warranty in immediately though! You can only register it up to 30 days afterwards.

Good at cutting lawn edges, but difficult to handle

I’ve always hated edging the lawn. It’s such hard graft, takes hours (usually over multiple sessions), and blunts every knife I use within a few metres. So when I saw this power tool advertised I couldn’t resist!!Now that I’ve worked out how to get the best from it I’m absolutely delighted. It’s light weight, easy to carry around, and the battery slides in & out of the tool/charger smoothly too.The main requirement is that your soil is slightly damp before you attempt edging. If it’s baked hard the blade just can’t get any purchase & you risk burning out the motor.The other trick I found useful to get a strip started, is to tilt the blade slightly so it can freely spin for a couple of rotations & has some momentum to it before you tilt it back into position again to catch into the grass. Health & safety may not like this “tip” however!!Once the blade is spinning and the cutting begins, you’re off, like a bullet!! It pulls itself forward at a good pace, so you can edge whole long strips in seconds!!A job that used to take me 3 days (& therefore often never got fully completed) took just 30-40minutes, including the clear up afterwards!!Total game changer!!PS Safety glasses, long trousers & decent footwear required. The occasional stone chip can go awry, and at speed.

I found the edger to be very effective but due to my carpal tunnel problem, awkward to guide. Now that my hand is improving it is getting easier to use and will be a great help. A pity it throws a lot of debris about and could probably do with a larger/better cover.

This item will not start if the rotating blade is touching the ground. It has to be lifted to start. Then it will work when it reaches the ground. It does the job, but is disappointing with starting.

Very easy to use .Excellent results.

I have several Ryobi tools maybe 20, most are excellent and good value for money. Some are not so good, this is one of those. Does not work on stony ground, or more correctly, works but wears out the blade very quickly. I used from brand new for about half an hour and the blade was beginning to look wrecked. The spare blades are crazy money ( 2 for £56 !!! ). It throws sparks if you accidently catch a stone, concrete path or slabs, kicks up stones and is dangerous, may hurt you, or break nearby glass - only suitable for soft soil grass edges with no nearby or hidden obstructions, no thick roots, no wooden patio, no stones, no flints. Chucks a wide messy mixture of cut grass and soil in its wake. This should be pointed out in the item description. I have obviously sent mine back. Think carefully!

Certainly cuts an edge but, additional trimming by spade is necessary.Not convinced that it's a necessary addition to gardening.

Découpe parfaite.Conseil : Il faut préparer le terrain en dessinant et marquant la bordure du massif.

The media could not be loaded.  I like things to precise so to have this tool to create the perfect edges is absolutely amazing.see the difference from the before picture. Absolute game changer.
