Heart on Fire: A Novena for Loki Paperback – 10 Sept. 2020

This is a permanent on my altar now & I use it daily. I also adore the size of it, it is tiny (so cute) but so perfect & has lots of inspiration & the numerology is well considered & something I use with Loki quite often.

Georges Dumezil labeled Loki "The Unquiet Thought". This is the single, most true, description I have found for Him. If you are able to make peace with your own "unquiet thoughts", then I recommend "Heart on Fire: A Novena for Loki".The format and content of this novena follows the others in this series by Galina Krasskova and so I will not comment upon them. What stands out most for me in this novena is the contemporary divination system which it contains - again it follows the others in this series, but the flavor is very much different...very much "Loki" beyond understanding how it could be so when there is so little mention of him in the Eddas and Sagas.As a divination system, each reader must judge it's value and accuracy for her/himself. I have experienced it as a collection of words that highlight an aspect of this ill-omened God - highlighting an aspect but not fully revealing Him. It is maddening...and so "Loki". Here are some examples:"Keep a little fire burning; however small, however hidden""Our fate cannot be taken from us; it is a gift""This world no longer interests me. That's why I must submit myself to the tides, and the winds, and the will of the Gods. Come what may.""All the whispers are behind your back. You are left with no means of clearing your name. And after a while you realize there is no point in even attempting to do so. All anyone wants is a chance to add more fuel to the fires of gossip. The whispers become so loud that sometimes you think you will drown in them.""In thy seat art thou bold; not so are thy deeds, adorner of benches!""Some people see things that are and ask, Why? Some people dream of things that never were and ask, Why not? Some people have to go to work and don't have time for all that."So many of the items in the divination system read like koans... something linear thought cannot digest...but the mind at peace with "unquiet thoughts" finds enlightening. Truth stands revealed to those who do not flinch at the thoughts that surface.
