Mini - Tesla to J-1772 Adapter - 80 AMP - Made in USA (TTMINI80)

We already had a Tesla charger at home so rather than replacing it, I decided to use the TeslaTap mini. However, I'm not sure this is better than just getting a J1772 charger.Regardless, the TeslaTap mini does exactly what it should. It doesn't seem to heat up or cause any issues.

Received the TeslaTap Mini 2 days sooner than projected. The device is surprisingly lightweight. I have tested on my neighbor’s home Tesla charger and a Tesla destination charger at a local hotel and it worked as advertised to charge my BMW I4. I had no problems fitting the TeslaTap to either the Tesla power cable or to my car. This device is expensive compared to others, but its light weight and ease of use are definitely pluses. I will be using this on a trip soon and will modify this review if I run into problems.

We got a second EV, not a Tesla. Having this adapter saved me from installing a second outlet in my garage for the other vehicle. It is easy to use, right out of the box and works great.

I had bought and returned another Tesla to J1772 adaptor because I couldn’t get it to work. Online and others in forums recommended this adaptor so I decided to give it a try. Buying this on Amazon costs $30 more that direct on the website but in Amazon, I can return it without a hassle. On the website, sales were final. So given the experience with the other adaptor, I decided to pay more & get it via Amazon. The 1st thing in the instructions was to plug the tesla destination charger in to the adaptor and wait 30 seconds which I did. Then I plugged it in the car & it started charging in about 20 seconds. I was getting 9kw; not the 11kw that the EVSE in the car can take and that Tesla destination chargers can reach. But 9kw is good. Some Level 2 charges only do 6kw & the one I have at home does 7 or 8kw.

Perfectly charging Lucid using Tesla home charger, even faster than Tesla which is limited to 48A. Can charge up to 60A with some warmth but nothing concerning. 60A limitation due to my setup from breaker box. Very solidly built and has a good heft to it. Couldn’t be more pleased.

Bought Chinese copy one first and it was poor quality this one is top notch, much better fit and finish. Buy this one if you're going to buy one!! Works great 👍

This adapter is way too tight and nearly impossible to get on and off of a Tesla charging cable. I bought dielectric grease as recommended by the manufacturer to help with removal but it barely made a difference. It’s been six months and it still hasn’t broken in or gotten easier. If you plan on putting this adapter on once and never removing it I guess it would be fine, but if you want something you can easily put on and take off I would suggest looking elsewhere.

I travel a lot and many hotels will have a Tesla charger. Now I can use my adapter and charge while I’m there. Works great!
