Great book for a beginner!
Thus book is a very good introduction for someone who had never done so before. If you're looking to pack your gear into a canoe or kayak and go out for the first time, this book is for you. But, I was looking for more details and routes on the BWCA - and this book was not what I was looking for...

This is a great all around guide to canoe camping in general and the BWCA specifically. Cliff's stories and obviously founded in years of experience and I found myself wanting to travel with Mr. Jacobson on our next trip up north. I was genuinely surprised by the 1 star reviews I read which seemed completely off base. My only complaint was that I wanted it to be longer...I finished it over three nights and wanted much more! Cliff, you don't seem to be lacking in the travel companion department, but if you're ever in need of another outdoorsman on your next trip, give me a shout!

An excellent read.
I have never been disappointed with any of Mr. Jacobsons' books. If canoeing in all its variety & options is your hobby, passion or interest, you'll find this book an Interesting and informative presentation of the Boundary Waters.

A great book at a good price.
I purchased this book in preparation for a trip to the Boundary Waters. The book arrived on time and in very good condition. I have found it of value in the information that it contains. This is a very good book and it was offered at a very fair price.

Valuable Information!
Outstanding, this book saved our troop during our Boundary Waters trip!!! Although our scouts were all canoe merit badge trained & the adults were knowledgeable as well, the valuable insights were well worth the small cost of the book. Thank you Mr. Jacobson!

Great book
I've purchased other canoe books but the two I bought from Cliff Jacobson I can't put down. I'm a novice and I feel his books are the most informative and real. He doesn't say you need the most expensive things just what works and just what you need. Lots of good advice from a man with lots of experience and a real passion for the outdoors. Book explains all need to know about permits and what to expect when you travel in the bwca.

Lots of " need to bring items for our trip learning from others what they would bring and why
My husband read the book and stayed up late just to finish! He love the nook and shared with me all the things he learned so we too could plan a trip

The Canoe Authority Speaks
Jacobsons's BW Canoe Camping is a must read for all who are headed to the BWCA. I do not agree will all of his equipment reccomendations as I prefer somewhat lighter gear than he prefers but his recomendations are tailored more to groups/families where equipment costs are a major consideration. His advice on prepping your gear, and how to stow, load, and portage is obviously the results of years of experience. This isn't a "where to go" book for the BWCA, though he does suggest several routes.
