Tango 500: A suggested library of five hundred tango songs arranged into tandas for dancing

I will never be a DJ myself but as a dancer committed to traditional music, I am at the mercy of the DJ. It is fascinating to read how a really good DJ approaches the task. This book is giving me background information on the orchestras and helping me to identify their sound and style. I think the more knowledge we gain of this music that shaped the dance, the better able we will be to interpret it.

Great read - ideal for tango DJs but also for those with a general interest. Well-organised content with a nice balance of the leading orchestras and some less well known. Highly recommended.

Das Buch ist zwar keine Enzyklopädie, aber ein nettes kleines Brevier über die wesentlichen Orquesta und die schönsten und wichtigsten Stücke der Orquesta. Die Zusammenstellung der Tandas entspricht den üblichen "Tango-DJ-Gesetzen" Die vorgestellten Tandas sorgen dafür, dass - wenn man sie auflegt - keine/r die Tanzfläche verlässt :-) aber innovativ (soweit traditionelles DJing es überhaupt zulässt) sind die Tandas nicht.Allerdings sind die Zusammenhänge der Orquesta und ihrer Protagonisten ganz gut und übersichtlich dem Buch zu entnehmen, sodass auch hier noch etwas zum Lernen dabei ist.Fazit: für DJ-Anfänger sehr gut geeignet und eine sichere Bank. Für alle, die sich neben dem Tanz auch intensiver mit der Musik beschäftigten wollen eine gute Empfehlung und für Kenner der Materie ein "nice-to-have" aber kein "must-to-have".
