Chiaroscuro Paperback – March 15, 2014

I bought this book on a whim without any expectations, and found myself delightfully surprised by Lawrence’s offerings. From the first poem to the last, the one thing that really stood out for me was her openness. I can’t be certain if the author lived through these experiences, but it certainly feels like she was sharing her most intimate moments with me. At times beautiful, dark, witty, cute, angry, passionate, and even lazy, each work has it’s own style and presentation, which made the collection even more intriguing to me. The free flowing nature of her poetry made me reread them in my mind, and even aloud at certain times. I’m very happy to have this in my bookshelf.

I thoroughly enjoyed the poems that told stories as I read between the lines. At times I thought I might be invading the authors privacy, but the poem was so engaging that I didn't care! :)The mini poems were short on words, but did pack quite a punch!An entertaining, witty and energetic author. I highly recommend reading Carolyn' s words.
