Divine Appointments & the Bible's Redemptive Message
How often do you get an opportunity to read a book where the author’s love for a subject sparks your own enthusiasm to such a degree that you find each page a wonderful journey of discovery? Well, I just finished Mark Biltz’s new book God’s Day Timer and I found it to be such an adventure.Taken from the pages of the Bible and enriched with a historical Jewish context, Mr. Biltz brings the Bible’s calendar alive as seen through the Biblical holy day festivals of:• Passover• Unleavened Bread• Firstfruits• Shavout (Pentetcost)• Trumpets• Yom Kippur• TabernaclesIn wonderful detail, Mr. Biltz shows how these holy days are built upon a Biblical reckoning of time as defined by cycles of the sun and moon. You’ll be thrilled as Mr. Biltz explains how the divinely appointed spring holy days of Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits are evidence for the accuracy of the Bible concerning the Messiah Yeshua’s first coming.Building upon this compelling evidence Biltz goes to show how the fall festivals of Trumpets, Yom Kippur, and Tabernacles provide a template or rehearsal, if you will, of prophetic events related to the Messiah Yeshua’s second coming at the end of this age.I will say I did note that Mr. Biltz seems to be a bit feistier in this book. Those looking to pin labels like “date setter” or “legalism” will find that Biltz doesn’t let those labels go unanswered. In chapter 4, Biltz also answers other objections which are often raised by those who reject the relevance of the Bible’s calendar to Christians today. The book is composed of 8 chapters which include:1. The Biblical Calendar2. Passover: The Lamb Slain from the Foundation of the World3. Feast of Unleavened Bread to Pentecost4. Answering Objections5. Practical Application6. Rosh Hashanah7. The Feast of Yom Kippur8. The Feast of TabernaclesIn reading this book I was struck by how Jewish tradition is so interwoven with the Messianic idea and how beautifully their traditions speak of the Messiah Yeshua, yet this symbolism was completely missed by those of Yeshua’s generation. Biltz opines that Christianity may be repeating some of those same mistakes. Indeed he may have a point that many of us today have inadvertently allowed the subtle influence of anti-Semitism to flavor our Biblical world view regarding our Creator’s calendar and its Jewish roots.* * *In the spirit of respectful disagreement there were a few aspects of this book which I find myself in disagreement. There were also places in the book where I’ll have to run down the facts for myself. Mind you, nothing which is fatal to the overall Messianic redemptive theme of the Bible’s divine appointments as described by Mr. Biltz, but nevertheless I would like to have a better understanding of the Biblical evidence upon which he based his conclusions. A couple examples include:The timing of the Exodus events as they relate to Yeshua’s death and resurrection. The Biblical basis for his understanding of the priestly courses.* * *One of the unexpected highlights of the book for me was Mr. Biltz’s explanation of Yeshua’s statement in Matthew 24:20-21 regarding the coming destruction of Jerusalem and how this warning makes much more sense if seen through a 2nd temple era context. Great insights to be sure.On a more controversial note, I also appreciated Mr. Biltz’s discussion of the Sabbath and its role in the Bible’s festival calendar. I thought he did a good job of explaining this holy day’s past, present, and future significance. As a working man whose days are spent with a great deal of hard physical labor I can tell you personally that keeping the Sabbath for the past 15 years has been a great blessing to me and my family. This one day of rest in our crazy schedule has been a bulwark against the world’s encroachment on our family life.Personally, I don’t see the Sabbath as a day I must keep in some misplaced effort to fulfill a legal mandate, but rather as a privilege which acknowledges that YHWH intended this day to be a blessing to mankind as it was a blessing to Him in the first 7 days of His creative genius. In summary, God’s Day Timer is a thrilling exploration of the Bible’s calendar and its past, present, and future significance in light of YHWH’s redemptive plan for mankind through Yeshua our Messiah.Maranatha!

I think he’s got this thing right.
It’s hard to argue with his logic of going back to the Biblical calendar in order to be more in sync with God’s timetable of prophetic events. I read wonderful and informative books like this and end up thinking, “How have we, as a collective church, become so far removed from Biblical truth!” This concept of the timetable is but one area we have followed church leadership blindly on believing they knew what there was to know. But the same can be said of many of our doctrines and traditions in the church. So much robotic, rote tradition in Christianity today, but so little truth and power anymore. We don’t know our Bible and church history as well as we should- and it’s really showing. I’ve been in church for 40 years and I’ve spent the last several of those learning from authors like Jonathan Cahn, Mark Biltz, Carl Gallups, the SkyWatchTV Group, and several other sound Bible teachers and authors. It is amazing what I didn’t know that I didn’t know! And it has been a breath of fresh air to fill in the blanks and gaps like this book helps one to do. I’ve always had the feeling there was more...much more that God would have us know in order to live more powerful and effective lives for Him. And I’m so glad to be learning about it! Great book!

Unbelievable how this book connects dots that I never knew existed and I’ve been a believer all my life, just shows you how much you don’t know about God’s Words. Nothing is a coincidence, nothing insignificant, every word, every action, every story has meaning.

God's Dress Rehearsals
I pre-ordered this book and the day I received it, I devoured it. Thank you to Mark Biltz for such an insightful message for this TIME and SEASON in history. Your passion for the Word of God, in tandem with your knowledge of the Hebrew language and the Jewish Feast has ignited a fire for change in this reader's life. My new calendar is marked for our "dress rehearsals" as I help prepare my church, family, friends and myself for the return of Yeshua! Anyone reading this book, who lays hold of it truths, will be counted among the 5 Wise Virgin who kept their lamps fill with oil for the coming of the Bridegroom. They attended God's dress rehearsals!

FANTASTIC and informative
Mark Biltz brings to the Jewish Calendar and celebrations to life by providing historical reference, supported scripture and breaks things down so it is easy to understand. This is a great book for anyone but specifically used this in a Christian bible study format. We were so excited by what we learned we started celebrating all of the feasts and it has opened up a new area of our faith. So excited to have found this.
