Klein Tools NCVT1P Voltage Tester, NCVT Pen, 50 to 1000V AC

This is one of those tools I needed for years, and finally decided to pick one up. Helped out big time replacing a few smart switches around the house. No more guessing which wires are live or not. Great size easily fits in your pocket, and doesn’t take a huge amount of space in tool bags or boxes: Klein is a brand that makes a solidly built tool and one you can trust!

Nice tool, good quality. Seems that I need to get into an electrical box every other year or so. I fav a forty plus year old contact tester. But I learned about these non contact testers and had a good experience with Klein. This tool is really good. It has a green led to make it clear that the unit is functioning and the batteries are still good. That’s important to keep you safe. It makes it very clear when there is a hot wire. It made my swap out of old smoke detectors safe. While I first isolated and cut the breaker, this tool made it sure there were no hot wires in the box. Nice and safe. Highly recommend this tool. And Klein seems like solid quality.

Works perfectly as expected and cheaper than I could find locally. Notably, the tone and sensitivity is low enough that I can identify wires that are hot/off within the same box just an inch or two apart. I always keep this in my back pocket working remodeling just to check and double check during work.

I trust the Klein brand electrical tools and would not trust a Chinese knock-off brand on a tool like this. Mine will see sporadic use - I'm not an electrician - and I plan to remove the batteries when I'm not expecting to need it for a while (corroding batteries have ruined my clocks, flashlights, ...). The release to get the battery compartment open is really stiff and I have to press it so hard I'm worried about breaking it.

It works. If you're ever gonna change a fixture, plug or switch just get this. Better safe than sorry. You never know what's in the wall or ceiling or that your box is set up clearly. Was switching a dead light out and accidentally found a hot wire splice right above it. No power to what I was working on but, this little fella saved me a shock from the unknown.

C'était parfait pour tester le courant avec une seule main (sans danger de s'électrocuter) et très simple d'utilisation. J'avais déjà divers testeurs, mais ils étaient plus gros et exigeaient les deux mains, ce qui n'est guère pratique lorsqu'on a à tester des fils au plafond, les bras en l'air, par exemple avec des fluorescents et des ballasts qui ont parfois de nombreux fils.
