Great knowledge for coaches
This is my first book from Alex. A great knowledge for coaching who want to learn about peaking their client for strength and conditoning in sports like powerlifting, strongman as well general sports. Easy to read and understand as the information is from the old soviet union times as well the classic information for the old school American lifts of the 50s till 80's.

Outstanding
This book, and it’s precursor - Base Strength -, are without doubt the two best books ever written on the subject of strength training and programming, in my opinion. Together, they answer and elaborate on all of the questions you’re left with after reading other classics, such as Practical Programming for Strength Training 3rd. In a field where most ‘experts’ would rather have you confused and paralysed by analysis in order that they can proscribe their own flavour of BS, this book debunks, demystifies and simplifies the strength training roadmap from beginner to advanced.

fantastic
I really enjoy the empire barbell youtube channel and the information provided. So when alex announced the series of books i was excited to see what would be included . Both books are amazing , as someone who was involved in personal training, strongman, bodybuilding, powerlifting, the way the information has been presented and simplfied is fantastic. It has made me re-evaluate and re-design my programming and training (base/peaks). I look forward to get more books of his in the future. Thee book of pre-peaking strength training.
I would put this in my top 5 of strength books: Base Strength, Peak Strength, The Juggernaut Method, Beyond 5/3/1 and Easy Strength There is an expectation the reader knows how to preform the basic lifts and their modifications, accessories, etc. It’s a good read that will keep you interested if your in the strength game. Lots to learn. What I like the most is it doesn’t force one system down your throat but gives one options to explore to see what will work. I’m an Oly lifter who just needed a break from my sport and wanted to try some other training methodology. Base Strength fits the bill.

How to program, not just for a meet
This is a great book on programming in general, and not just for preparing for a meet. Highly recommended.Instead of just giving you a few programs, Bromley continues to teach you how to program, diving deep this time into exercise selection for main, accessory and assistance lifts. One thing worth mentioning, the book includes specific recommendations for novice, intermediate and advanced general programming as well as getting ready for a meet. I don’t compete and I’m no expert, but the novice program just makes a ton of sense to me. Much more volume (and less grinding) than Greyskull, Starting Strength, GZCLP, 5/3/1 for Beginners, etc., which I think is dead on.Another no-nonsense book from Bromley with a ton of high-quality information. Well worth the price, highly recommended.
